Julie Anderson Review of Veterinary Referral and Critic...

Several years ago we took our border collie there after she was diagnosed with cancer. During the 6 months of chemo, the doctors and staff were compassionate, patient with my many questions, and very flexible with us. In our dogs last days, we stayed in her run with her as much as we could. After she passed, we wanted to come say good-by and the vet assistants had her in a room, on a table with wildflowers around her. We were allowed to spend the time we needed to grieve our loss. It is a moment we still cherish.
So last month our next border collie was found with a mass on her spleen. We did not hesitate to ask for a referral for VRCC for her surgery as we know they treat the whole family, not just the pet. We were allowed to sit with her in her run, well past visiting hours ended, as the staff knew that having her curled up sleeping next to me was healing for all. Although the mass was diagnosed a malignant, we appreciate all VRCC did for us. Since she is an older dog, we have opted for palliative care this time and the doctors there were very supportive of our decision.
