Ryan Miller Review of Hale's Ales Brewery and Pub

Lots of people are using the term pub food to refer to the horrible fare at this restaurant. However, I've been to the greasiest, hole-in-the-wall places and they typically have much more edible pub fare than Hales. This is a shock to me because a few years ago I ate there and had no issues with it.
I just ate there this afternoon, a few bites of the tasteless, wilted caesar salad and a horrible chicken quesadilla made with the most chalky chicken I've ever tasted and a cheese that must be closer to plastic than dairy quickly ruined my appetite. My wife tried the mushy and tasteless fries and fried fish, which apparently was inedible but then when the fresh tartar sauce was delivered by the server (the first tartar sauce had a hair in it) she ate it since the sauce was good enough to hide the flavor of the fish.
As always, the beer was fine. You won't see me going back to Hales, though, something went wrong at that brewery. If I should find myself back for some reason I'll make sure to eat elsewhere before or after.
