Thank you for alleviating my fears. We just got a new dog and are establishing a pecking order. The new dog bit my current dog in the ear. It's been a trying past two weeks. The new dog got a second ear infection and then a few days later we found out she also had tape worms and my current dog had a mast cell tumor removed on top of growing pains due to a new dog. I was pretty upset and the staff was very understanding of my current dog's dog selectiveness and came out to the car to look at her and let us do the paper work and wait in the car. There was a bit of a wait but there aren't many 24 hr vets and I didn't feel like my dog needed to be seen asap as her condition was not life threatening; it just couldn't wait until Monday. I didn't think the visit fee was outrageous and I suppose the procedure cost was a little high compared to a regular vet visit but what do you expect at 10 pm on a Saturday night knowing my vet isn't open on Sunday. I did think the medications were expensive. I know the human equivalent (exact same drugs but separate and not in chewable form) are much cheaper but the overall visit was about what I expected. They did suggest a procedure that I felt was not absolutely necessary but it wasn't inappropriate. I opted out bc of cost and bc by the time it got worse, my vet would have been open. I have a human medical background so I felt comfortable watching for signs of infection. I definitely wouldn't go there unless I needed it but then again I wouldn't go to the ER myself unless I needed it either. The staff was kind as well as the doctor despite being busy. I would absolutely use then again for an emergency.
