My favourite city in the world. Friendly, accessible, fun. Come for the Sampedros (last week of June) Fiesta and enjoy magnificent firework displays and endless tapa and drink for 2.20 euro a time. Not to mention parades and music, cafes and people. Then there is one of the best paseos along by the river, over-arched by a cool, green canopy of plane tree boughs. The stupendous 12thC Cathedral and the Castle above. There are so many things to see but try not to miss the new Museo de la Evolucion Humana, it is superb experience and ties in with the World Heritage Site of Atapuerca. There are many good Hotels though I now stay in the friendly Hostal Acuarela (Hostal = small Hotel) just of the Plaza de Espana. I have been visiting for more than 15 years and still find new things and new joys...
