What a shame

The Library is located in the building that was the former Hospital de la Santa Creu. An impressive architectural space, worth seeing. Library with access for study and specialized and restricted consultation. The gardens and squares through which the Library is accessed are charming, too bad the atmosphere is sometimes not the best. Some kind of surveillance should be put in the area. Despite everything, an essential place to visit.

Ideal place to conduct research. No noise, no hassle. It has a special charm.

It is incredible the lack of respect of the people who work in the library towards the people who come to use this space. Unlike other libraries where users make noise, in the library of Catalonia it is the workers themselves who do not stop talking without considering where they are and without giving a little example. You really should visit this place. The inner plaza has a nice ambient and it's silent which aren't many places on Barcelona that are. Fact: the library was a former hospital for poor people and when Gaudi had his accident they put him first there, as they didn't recognized him.

A unique space in Barcelona. It used to be the hospital in Barcelona. It has been adapted to house the library but it can still be seen in the frescoes on the walls. The Biblioteca de Catalunya is, without a doubt, one of the most important in the country for its documentary and bibliographic collections. Located in the old Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, it is a great place to study, do research or just read in an environment where there is enough tranquility to concentrate. The library offers a very good working atmosphere. It's cool in summer and people tend to be quiet. The internet works well and the staff is helpful and friendly. It was never overcrowded. In addition, the rooms are very nice to look at.

I have to complain about the environment outside the Library (everything is correct inside), there are always people smoking drugs and everything reeks of tobacco, marijuana and God knows what else, there are people of doubtful appearance living in the gardens and corners, there are a lot of dirt and monoliths damaged with independence proclamations painted or pasted ... a pity

I had never been to study in a library but I have been studying for the entire university career in the library of Catalonia and today I still have two years left as my favorite place. Apart from its spectacular Gothic architecture it is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I know. Besides, you can find all the books you want and manuscripts of many years ago. Without a doubt it is a place that I recommend 100% to study or simply to see and appreciate it. Another point in favor is that it is a fairly central place with very easy access.
