We flew to Milan from Sydney and I stupidly picked the wrong bag off the carousel but only discovered my mistake when I went to open the bag upon arrival at Hotel Spadari reception. Despite the hotel staff being busy with other check ins they were especially helpful. Despite it being a weekend and being told that nothing could be done until the airport office reopened on Monday morning, the ladies in reception managed to track down the owner of the bag I had, and put the owner's mind at rest. They also confirmed that my bag was being held in lost & found at the airport and I could pick it up any time before 10pm leaving us free to explore Milan for the day.
The piece de resistance for me was when I enquired where I could find a shop to buy a razor and a toothbrush, the reception staff produced a plastic bag from under the counter with the said items which were offered gratis. It seems that there are plenty of other idiots like me.
The next morning the same receptionists remembered to ask if all had now been resolved (and it had).This level of service was beyond my expectation and I hope they and their bosses get to see this review. Oh, and the hotel is great too.
