My experience is service related. If this was when I bought my car, this would be a five star review. The buying experience I had months ago was flawless and very positive. I brought my car in for it's first maintenance checkup, oil change and tire rotation. Not a big deal. But then when I got my car back, it sounded different, but I figured it was just me, but then as I went to pick up my daughter just a short time later, the car really started acting strange. It was losing power big time, would not accelerate, the check engine light came on and really made me panic. It happened on a very busy street in town which made me even more worried. This is a 2013 Sonic. So I got home and called the service department back. I couldn't get through to anyone so I had to leave a VM. I also emailed the service manager expressing my concern. Instead of waiting for a call back, I needed to get the car back to service before they closed at 6pm. So I checked it back in with them and got a rental, which was very helpful considering I work in Clayton, MO. The next day I get a call back, and they were very nice and apologetic. The issue was that whoever worked on my Sonic did not put the oil cap back on securely and that was the cause of all the problems in my car. I work in the biggest IT service-based company in the St. Louis area, and we have to be very attentive to details, no matter how small or big they are. I understand we all get busy and we are trying to be as efficient as possible, but something like this could have easily been avoided, especially when this happened with my 5 year old daughter in the car. What if the mistake resulted in something worse happening? I do appreciate that they cleaned up my car inside and out to make up for the error, which is why I am giving my service experience two stars instead of one. This isn't an "I'm never coming back" message as I will return to the dealership for it's regular maintenance for this vehicle. I will just have to inspect it more carefully before I drive it off the service lot, and this is also a head's up for the general public.
