I am not fond of going to dealerships, but I heard good things about Pearson Honda so I decided to go in for service on my 2006 Honda Civic a couple of weeks ago, before I committed to getting service done on my car, I first wanted to get some questions answered, I went to numerous service writers and most of them could not answer the question I had about my car. It was not a difficult question, I merely asked, "what is the benefit to using full synthetic oil over natural or a blend?" None of the service writers could answer the questions. I would have expected a great deal of automotive knowledge from at least one of them, but no, that was not the case. I hesitated whether I wanted to get service done on my car or not at this place after this experience. I held off on service and I decided I would just do the oil change myself, I went over to the parts department and asked the same question to what appeared to be a fifteen year old. The boy answered my question immediately without hesitation. He explained the benefits of Synthetic and Natural oil and also explained to me that as long as I put the right weight of oil in my car, it technically should not matter what kind I use. He then told me how to read a bottle of oil. I had no idea that the "W" in 5W20 stood for winter. But he did not just tell me that, he explained what it meant. After talking to this boy, I as an adult now feel more educated about the simpler things in a car like motor oil. I then decided I would change the oil in my car by myself and after finally getting around to doing it today, I feel totally confident in the work I did, I am now ready to take my civic on a long trip. I do not know how to rate this because, I feel that at least one of the adult service writers should have been able to answer my question, but they could not, so thats a negative. But on a brighter note a Most-Likely part-time boy had more knowledge about a vehicle than any of the service writers did, so for that I will give this 4 stars.
