Great place for getting away from it ALL. The current resort was built in the early 1900's which is in part it's charm and it's down fall. (Long review)
The resort is charming even though it is large. There are some good restaurants/chefs on or near the property. The king suite I had was comfortable the bed was comfortable. The chair was nice the bathroom was OK I liked the dressing area was separated from bathtub and room. Which afforded an area to get dressed while your spouse either slept in or was bathing.
It confuses me though with a name like Omni (the prices for hotel rooms, food, and practically everything to do $$$$) why the rooms are lacking in modernizations that even low budget hotels have (room refrigerator, microwave, USB charger stations). They do supply each room with an ice bucket and down the hallway was a ice machine, but there is NOT any drink machines on property (bring your own beverages).
This may not matter to most travelers but handicap travelers beware of the "Homestead" was not built with you in mind. My spouse was struggling in mobility and as such needed a wheelchair. The staff member that checked us in noticed and offered a wheelchair for us during the duration of our stay (at no extra charge) a plus for customer satisfaction. However, as someone in a wheelchair will find to get from point to point in the Homestead was a daunting task. Yes, the resort has elevators but not all floors are connected. Several of the wheelchair ramp grades are WAY to steep. If it had not been for the staff member at check in I would rate Homestead as a 1 out of 5 for handicap travelers.
I was there for a conference the conference rooms varied in sizes which allows for break out sessions. The grand ballroom(s) are large enough to handle the resort's size. The staff that serviced the meals were friendly and efficient they delivered the three-course meal quickly with little to no flaws. The WiFi in the conference rooms varied as to it's connection and speed; two presenter had issues while others didn't so there is room for improvement in this area for the resort.
Overall I think the resort has some things going for it that makes me want to give it thumbs up but until management (Omni) moves towards modern 21st century basic amenities I'd have to say this is one resort NOT worth the expenses.
