I fully believe that if you have a life threatening medical emergency that is serious enough to catch the attention of a doctor here, you're in the right place. As a matter of fact, many of the doctors that saw and treated my son, I was confident putting our lives in their hands. They're knowledgable.

However, it will come at a price. If you don't have an emergency, expect lonnnnggggggg wait times. Expect to be glanced over and, at times, not even looked at thoroughly. Expect unnecessary steps. And afterwards expect HUGE confusing medical bills.

I was scheduled for an induction on a Friday. I came to the hospital, checked in, was asked to enter a triage room. A nurse came in to tell me that a room was unavailable and that if I wanted to go home to avoid the cost, I could do so and come back in the morning. So that's exactly what we did. Mind you, after delivery we received a bill for $1600 JUST for the triage room which they kept US waiting for half an hour. That half hour cost us nearly as much as multiple days did in delivery.

After delivery, I asked if I could receive a cash discount NOPE they don't do those at this hospital. Crazy. I asked to set up an automatic withdrawal payment plan. $100 came out of my account every month and then I got a call from collections. Be CAREFUL because UNC will split the hospital bills up into separate accounts and if you don't set up the withdrawal on every single account under UNC, they will send it to collections.

After months of trying to take triage charges off since nothing was ever performed in that room in addition to being told we wouldn't be charged if we rescheduled our induction, we had to accept paying for the additional costs.

If the cost of medical is not of concern for you, you're not concerned about long wait times and you're main priority is having access to very intelligent doctors, this could be a great place for you.
