My parents have stayed at the Berkley 5+ times, and had a wonderful experience. My thoughts:

Whats great:
Rooms are very large, clean, and spacious
Prices are MUCH more reasonable than the Omni across the street, but in the same amazing great location. Rooms are actually much more modern and clean than the omni as well
Very high Value hotel
In a beautiful part of Richmond on the main street of shockoe slip. Many nice sit down restaurants in the area, very close proximity to the james river (3 minute walk) which has nice walking trails nearby. Also, directly next to the financial district for those on business trips

Why you might book elsewhere:
If you are trying to accumulate points in the Marriott system.
