When vacationing in a new City, I've found it beneficial to use a tour such as Big Bus to get the proverbial lay of the land. Generally we hop on and do the entire circuit picking an choosing where we'd like to revisit. Unfortunately the London Big Bus tour was our first poor experience. The bus driver, was as as gruff and personable as a transit driver. Perhaps he was having a bad day, but we also found the pre-recordings of the 'Blue Line' to be repetitive, not very informative, and lacking any form of wit. When we decided to hop off for a quick bite to eat in Piccadilly, we need to wait for 4 buses before we were able to re-board and continue the tour. The tour stop conductor continually told us the would be a bus in just '5 minutes,' and that the company would be sending an empty bus to help accommodate the overflow; the first statement was optimistic, and the second just boldly false. Bear in mind this was also off season (April), so I can only imagine what it could be like during peak Summer months. We never completed the full circuit, deciding rather to jump off and pick up an Oyster card... this was not money well spent.
