My family and I have stayed at this hotel twice. The first visit was miserable and we decided we did not want to stay here again, but because of some logistical issues, we wound up staying here a second time and deeply regret it.
We stayed here in June, 2019 - my husband, our 2 young daughters, and me. After we had checked in and settled in our room, we left to run an errand. When we got back, we could not get in our room. The desk staff acted like I didn't know how to use the room key, which was insulting. After several key changes, the staff figured out that the entire 6th floor was locked out. For several hours they were unable to get any of us in our rooms. They asked that we stay close by while they tried to figure it out, and suggested we eat in the hotel restaurant. Eventually, they got us in our room, but couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't happen again, so we had to change rooms. Obviously, that's inconvenient, especially with 2 small kids.. For all this trouble, they offered a "sorry about that" in passing. There was no discount on our room, meal, or parking for hours of inconvenience.
We just stayed there again, reluctantly, in November, 2020. We're in a pandemic and the hotel was nearly empty, but they still put us in a room overlooking the hotel's a/c units. The noise from the units was so loud that we initially thought there were helicopters flying nearby. (Walter Reed is about 1 mile away.) Ironically, although we could hear other a/c units throughoutthe night, the a/c in our room did not work. This made the room uncomfortable, but it also meant that the air was not being refreshed/cleaned, which is necessary for COVID protocols. Additionally, our bathroom counter was visibly dirty when we checked in. My entire family got sick the 2nd day of our stay and 5 days after we left this hotel, I tested positive for COVID. The rest of my family will test tomorrow. Although we cannot prove it, we highly suspect the lack of circulating air and evidence of lax cleaning in our hotel room are to blame. The only place outside our home that we have been without masks has been in this hotel room.
A small inconvenience about this hotel is that the room sleeps 4, but its not really designed for 4 people because there is not enough storage and the room is very small. Even with small children, it's a tight and uncomfortable fit. I gave the hotel 2 stars because the bed is really comfortable, but that's the only redeeming quality for this place. I really don't recommend this hotel at all.
