Restaurant De Battery is located in the lovely town of Strijensas. It is indeed a beautiful place with a beautiful harbor and an antique drawbridge, but for many people in or outside the Hoeksche Waard it is still a long way away. Also for us. We eat out quite often and prefer to go somewhere else every time. But unfortunately that wears out. In our opinion, the Battery also suffers from this. We had a lovely dinner, cozy atmosphere, nice weather so sat on the terrace on the first floor, beautiful view, nothing at all not to go there every time. Only from the West to the East of the Hoeksche Waard is disappointing, still a long drive. It is a fallacy, but it is true. Nevertheless, we will certainly take a look again as soon as the weather is nice.
The Hollands Diep has played an important role in the defense of our country in the past. To protect the country against various threats and / or attacks, including those of Emperor Joseph II and the French, the construction of 2 batteries in Strijensas was started in 1792. One of these was to protect the then port of Strijensas. The restaurant is therefore named after the battery that was located at this location at the time.
