Kirsti Dare Review of Family Kingdom

My, oh my. Where to begin. We went this past August while one vacation in South Carolina and have been to many theme parks. The attendants that work the rides for the little kids earn five stars. They were absolutely amazing and observant. Also, the price to get the wristbands was really good compared to the Northeast rates we pay. Options for little kids for rides was great for an early evening out.
With that said, there were massive rats observed running around the park, and areas that smelled awful. Luckily, our kids didn't see the rats, otherwise they would have wanted to run to our vacation home. If they had seen them, surely this would be a one. But, we are adults and wondered if there just happen to be more rats in South Carolina than Jersey? We are familiar with field mice in the country, but not at amusement parks. Other visitors did not seem all that bothered by them. They were almost amused, so, we just accepted it.
There was little to no security at the gates or anywhere to be found. As such, kids were running around unsupervised. This became a huge problem upon departure near the gate. A young teenager was playing with someone, running swiftly, looking backwards, not forward, and fell right on top of our daughter in her stroller!! Luckily my Jedi mamma skills saved her from serious harm by placing my arm out between her and him while catching the stroller with the other hand and my knee as it fell. She could have seriously, seriously been hurt. He was very apologetic, as was his mom when she realized what happened. Not one person from the park responded to any of this, because, who cares? She was crying and slightly hurt, but thank God this wasn't worse than it could have been. Security is needed for many reasons. This is just one reason why. In our day and age, you need security, at the very least, around open public gates.
I wish this review could be better. There was much potential here. Again, the ride operators were amazing and the price was great, but, at what cost?
