We checked in for a "staycation" in our own city, paid the same room fee as we do at the Savoy in London, but was shocked to receive no more than 'Ramada' hotel service. We booked in to spend the day 'laying by the pool' but found zero chairs for the whole day (more green space than pool or chairs) and it took us over an hour to get drinks and food, when food came it was cold and wrong. We left the pool area feeling put off.

Then we tried to book in at your restaurant the Botanist, which we did get in, but we're stuck in a corner by the entranceway bar and only attended to by the bartender (who was SO good at his job, but was so busy). Main meals we were waiting for, kitchen backed up.
We are used to having some 'clout' to get into the hotels restaurants if you are a guest, but we were backhanded you told 'we are a very popular restaurant so sorry'...we get into Gordon Ramsey's restaurants easier...
Room service dessert was forgotten, then when told, they didn't immerse go to get, it took another 45-hour to bring the 2nd forgotten dessert up.
Managers kindly took care of some costs, but actually we don't care about the money, we just wanted the service. I believe all the Vancouver staff needs to be trained regarding service by the London staff and Vancouver should not be charging the same hotel rates if they can't live up to the worldwide service.
Having said that we will continue to stay at Fairmonts worldwide as they are comfortable and clean, but would not recommend the Pacific Rim as it's more of a 'party place', like those hotels on Spring Break in Florida, which does not seem to match the Fairmont brand worldwide, to us anyways. Thank you.
