Joy Li Review of Experimental Cocktail Club
I've wanted to come here for a long time, and over...
I've wanted to come here for a long time, and overall I really enjoyed it. It's tucked away in the center of Chinatown (next to the amazing Four Seasons) and the only way you can recognize it is with the bouncer standing in front of the small black door.
It's really hard to make a short-notice reservation so we planned to come early, but do keep in mind that they do have a very strict numbers policy and if they are full, your friends who come later might not be able to get in. If you don't have a table, do NOT tell the bouncer you have a table... because the bouncer we came across has a very short temper. Be honest, and you're more likely to be let in.
When you go up the narrow stairs, you're immediately dazzled by the beautiful space, a traditional and authentic speakeasy with dimmed lights, dark wood, and soft couches. It felt as if walking into a past era. They have two floors but we stayed by the first floor bar because of the higher ceiling and more spacious floor. They have a really nice and diverse cocktail list and we all tried something different. The bartender seemed very into the craft so it made the drinks more worth their hefty pricetags... between 11-14 pounds a cocktail, so not cheap. But definitely worth going once in a special while :)
