Very poor organization and service - I think Gordon needs to visit his own restaurant on his next 'kitchen nightmares'!
Apologies for the long review but it seems like the restaurant is active on here so they should take this on board (there seems to be several other reviews with complaints of poor service).
I successfully booked online (and confirmed by phone also) a table on Sunday for the bottomless sushi and prosecco. We arrived on time, maybe a couple mins early only to be told our reservation could not be found as that restaurant had closed! (there were removal men during service clearing the adjoining restaurant of furniture whilst food service was going on, which I thought was very poor as well). There were other people who arrived/leaving at the same time as us who had had this same predicament, so it was not a one off!
We were asked to wait by the bar whilst they tried to find a table for us to sit at. We were left waiting for 15mins until we were eventually led to a slightly tight table. Note that the restaurant remained empty (I counted 12 tables of 2) that were empty for the entire afternoon.
From there we were left waiting for another 15mins whilst the maitre D was having what appeared to be a personal conversation with off duty staff. In the mean time we weren't given any service or brunch menus to compare.
Finally, 30mins after arriving we were finally seen to and explained what alternative menu they could provide. considering the incredibly poor service so far, the maitre D came across as somewhat arrogant and almost treated us like we were at fault. We were offered a snack or starter and a selection of the restaurant sushi menu with free flowing prosecco for the same price as the sushi brunch.
The starters were nice but 'casual' (the avocado and sweet potato chips was essentially guacamole and 3 sweet potato crisps). The sushi was not really authentic but rather blobs of tarter on poorly rolled sushi rice. The wagyu nigiri, whilst incredibly tasty (the best thing we ate), was a little chewy considering the size (3" x1") to be eating as sushi. Whilst still pretty good value, I would say if you are looking to go for good sushi or brunch, to go elsewhere (itsu sushi isn't much worse for about a quarter of the price).
Lastly, we waited about 45mins for the bill after asking three times, as they seemingly forgot about us (maybe because we didn't order desert).
Whilst the food probably deserved a 3.5 (I am being critical based on the level of restaurant they want to be and for the prices they are charging), the poor overall experience has led me to give this place a 1-star. Seriously guys, how can you mess up the date when you are closing?! (even now I am able to access the sushi website for sundays!!).
