I had a wart that was growing on the right side of my thumb. After 2 months, it has taken a good chunk of my thumb. So I went to the walk-in ER at Northwest Medical Center of Bentonville to get it treated before it gets any bigger.
They charged me $100 saying "Oh, we will take care of that." After about 20 min, the doctor came and looked at it for 2 sec and said that they don't have the equipments or medicine to treat a wart.
So I said I wanted my money back because they can't treat me due to their lack of equipments and medicines. Then the doctor went out, talked to some people, came back and said they don't treat things like wart in ER. They said they can take care of in-grown nail and stuff because it's "serious," but my wart that's taking up 1/5 of my right thumb isn't serious enough to treat in an ER.
So I asked for the money back again, and the doctor said he could technically use the "scalpel and some alcohol" to cut it out, but he said it would cost more than $100. From the beginning, I asked the doctor if he could cut it out before it gets any bigger, and he said he didn't feel comfortable doing it. And now all of a sudden he can do it after I asked for money back?
So I went to talk to an administrative. And one of them said, that they can't refund the money because I
"chose" to be admitted and see the doctor...
That would have made sense if the doctor recommended against treating it for some health reason, but the doctor chose not to treat it because they didn't have any means to treat it. Is this even legal to charge a patient $100 after failing to treat him due to lack of equipments or medicines at the hospital?
That's not the end. That administrative guy told me how he could technically refund my money, but he would send the bill to my house, and if I don't pay, he said he would hand the case over to a collection company.
I mean I didn't get angry or say anything disrespectful. I just asked if I can get my money back because the hospital couldn't treat me due to the lack of equipments and medicine. And this administrative basically threatens me by saying he would let the collection company handle it and possibly take me to court for this.
So this hospital seems to lack: medicines, equipments, and compassion.
