This was a must-see for me after watching the Superb documentary about the refurbishment of the gallery. It didn't disappoint. The collection is superb, far better than I ever appreciated. I'm even more amazed that I could recommend this as a family day out.

My kids adored the Audio guides. You know an art gallery has its younger audience well catered for when a ten year old insists on seeing the portrait gallery after three hours. They're not particularly into art but really enjoyed it.

The refurbishment is magnificent. The staff were great. Even lunch was superb. Faultless. Absolutely essential to visit.
