The Globe theatre was built by Shakespeare Playing Company. The original building was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A second globe was built on the same site by June 1614. The theatre was closed by Ordinance issues on 6th September 1642.

The current globe is reconstructed and opened in 1997 which is approximately 750 feet from the original site. The location is right next to the River Thames.
