Purchased a car December 2, 2016...as of today, prior car which was traded in has not been paid off yet although City Chevrolet charges buyers an "administrative fee"...they clearly don't use it for "administrative purposes" otherwise the dealership could print a payoff check and sent via overnight service to finance company. My husband has called City Chevrolet and it's been 3 days, no call back or tracking number from City Chevrolet....absolutely inexcusable business practice to not pay off customers trade in vehicles within an acceptable period of time. I saw numerous employees sitting around doing nothing while we were there shopping. In fact they have more employees than I have seen at a dealership. Put them to work and send the payoff check, at minimum, call your customers back.
****Update...lender finally received payoff check, however, while driving to dinner lastnight we were pulled over. We weren't speeding, didn't break any traffic laws that we were aware of. Police Officer advised us that tag on car is registered to a BMW, not a Chevy Camaro. After questioning and providing purchase papers, he let us go with a written warning. We were charged an "administrative fee" for processing paperwork by City Chevrolet, WHY after almost 6 weeks is our tag and title not registered with DMV??? No excuse for this. I expect the tag and title registered this week, I don't care if you have to send one of your staff in person (I saw numerous employees sitting at high top tables texting and chatting with each other) to ensure this task is done. I will be filing a complaint with BBB. You guys need to do a better job seriously. The finance guy we dealt with was "bragging" about how good your tag / transfer department girl was because she used to work at the DMV. What a bunch of nonsense. We do expect a response from City Chevrolet immediately on the status of our tag and registration.
