Great museum of a incredible artist. You have to buy a ticket online with a timeslot because it's so busy. But the staff is great, the facilities are good and van Gogh truly is an inspiring artist too learn more about.
Perfect. Not only his masterpiece paintings. It tells you most of his personal interesting and oscillating personality. Such a talent and such an intense person. That's what you'll see here.
The Museum is spacious and well laid out over several floors. It tells a great story of Van Gogh and his rise to fame and how his art progressed as well as his personal and professional life.
Chance are you like art, history or are simply curious about Van Gogh's life, and whether you take a guid...
Disappointing. The major works are no there. No starry starry night, no cafe terrace at night and the sunflowers is not the one we all know (he did 5 and we get one of the lesser known ones here)
Start with the new modern exhibition. It does an excellent job at introducing you to Van Gogh and his life. I really enjoyed the galleries but it was hard to get to see the art works as it can get busy. Make sure to buy tickets ahead of time as it usually is sold out day of.
This is such a fine museum. Not only cause of van Gogh, but they also manage to have great temporary exposition from time to time. I mean really international high standards. Today I saw Hockney meets Van Gogh and all was so good. Yes it was sold out and crowded but not too.... yes the re was some c...
An once in a lifetime experience, a must visit museum of art in Amsterdam! In order to avoid the queue you should book in advance. Otherwise you should try early in the morning. The museum is spacey, well organized and 2 hours is by my counting the minimum time to spend in there. Also, the audio c...
Van Gogh was an amazing painter and the museum did a great job at showing that. The 5 interactive guide is definitely worth it, especially if you have no background knowledge about Van Gogh. Don t forget to book your time slot online or you won t be able to enter the museum. Photography of the art ...
SPECTACULAR MUSEUM! Highly recommend going to this museum. It s one of the best ones I ve been to in Europe. Make sure to buy the multimedia audio guide it s really well done. Very interactive. VGM did a wonderful job of telling the story of VG, his upbringing and artwork.
One of the best experiences I could ever be part of. I'm happy I could join! Such an amazing museum and the storytelling that come from the way the works are exposed is amazing.
Awful museum and gallery. Although asked not to take photos online, no one seems to enforce and you spend most of the time in the museum being pushed out the way by people taking bad photos of the art. You are unable to appreciate the work as far too many people crowding each piece. Considering the ...
Excellent place. If u r into Van Gogh you just need to go. The colllection perfectly illustrates his evolution as an artist. There's also work from artists that somehow relate to his "ouvre". The museum itself is very modern and looks good.
The website says they open at 8.00am but we were sent away and told opening was 9.00am. We had planned our day around an early breakfast. FIX YOUR WEBSITE!
Absolutely stunning masterpieces by one of the greatest artists of all time. The museum has various halls that show different periods in Van Gogh's life, his paintings, the letters to his brother Theo, his painting and writing tools, and More
If you can make it to Amsterdam definitely go to the Van Gogh Museum. I purchased the audio guide for 5 Euros and it was more than worth it. The audio guide gave such in-depth backgrounds on the pieces and Van Gogh's life that even if you are not familiar with Van Gogh you will be moved by his artwo...
It is full of people needs booking ahead, if not there will be too long queue.. the inside is some paintings of Van Gogh, I do have to admit their marketing policy is very good, instead in terms of its style...
Even you have seen all Van Gogh painting on web or books But it is different feeling to see the originals Make sure to buy tickets on line directly from museum web
I'm in love Van Gogh arts and I cannot make a visit in Amsterdam without visiting the Van Gogh museum. It's a very interesting museum and also very big. I spent nearly 3 hours inside and I skipped the temporary exhibition because I hadn't enough time. It was a bit difficult to read and see everythin...
BUY TICKETS FIRST!! This place only does scheduled tickets online and next day tickets sell quickly. This museum provides an extensive and detailed view into the life of Vincent Van Gogh. The audio tour pieces it together for you and is extremely entertaining. The restaurant is also very nice and de...
Buy an e ticket from the museum online. E ticket holders have a separate entrance, no queues. A big collection of his works displayed with excellent visibility and access. Informative, detailed descriptions with works. We went at 3.30pm. Busy, but could see all the work, good flow through a...
Overall it was a bit underwhelming for the price. One part of the museum was just self-portraits of Van Gogh and other artists that were inspired by him, friends with him, or admired him. It was cool at first, but became repetitive and boring very quickly. By the time we got to the more Van Gogh exh...
Amazing to see so many of these paintings in one place and up close. You have to book a ticket and time on line but at least you can get times on the following day as we did. Use the museum's own site as there are others offering tickets too. We took around 3 hours to go round. Lovely park outside t...
An amazing , well laid out museum. I would recommend the audio as it really explains the paintings and gives you a more insight to the painter especially for those who have not studied art. No queues although it was very busy. Cloak room available and very clean toilets. Staff were very helpful.
One of the best museums I have ever been to. Well organised and easily accessible. You should keep in mind that the demand for the tickets is extremely high so book a ticket earlier.
Lovely museum showcasing the artist VanGogh. The line ouyside appeared to be long, but moved very quickly. It is required that you check all bags. The museum is quite crowded, but the staff are able to move everyone through the entrance quite efficiently.
Book in advance to avoid queues. It was raining with only one ticket machine outside the museum working. The queue was long and took an age. There are also time slots, so we had to pass 2 hours in the area before going in. I wish we'd planned a bit better! As mentioned...best to book prior to your v...
Can take up to 2 to 3 hours. This is a very good museum that tries to explain how Van Gogh saw the world through his paintings. Highly recommended to get the audio book to get a better and faster grasp of Van Gogh s life.
A very interesting museum, with Van Gog's richest collection of works. There are many detailed explanations for the paintings and the life of the artist. Particular attention is paid to The Potato Eaters and Sunflowers. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.
Great painter and so the museum is worth visiting for sure! Remember to buy a ticket in advance. Right now you can see sunflowers on the display, but it is not always available.
Of all the museums I have visited so far, I really like this museum as it depicts the life of the painter in a story telling showing his family, his paintings and his struggle with his mental disorder. You should definitely take the multimedia tour which helps to understand the paintings, his letter...
The museum was wonderful. It is organized by 3 floors that takes you on the journey of his life. I recommend getting the headset narrative. Lots of great information and surprising facts.
Wonderful Museum documenting his life and influences but I thought some of his later works were a bit underrepresented. Get the online tickets early since they sell out a week in advance. Otherwise watch the website on the day you'd like to visit. Tickets do become available at the last minute.
Wonderful museum on Van Gogh. Gives deeper perspective to this artist, brother and the man himself. How he inspires a generation of artist and art lovers alike. The multimedia guide is highly recommended! It s very useful & provide better insight for the tour of the museum.
We were hoping to see the sunflowers and started night paintings but one was behind redressed and the other in New York. Other wise good selection and history of van Gogh's studies
Fantastic! The visit to the museum really gave a new insight to the life and story of Vincent van Gogh, the struggles he went through, his inspirations, his hard work, and his legacy. Since the museum is dedicated to him, you also see lots of his artworks and get to explore how his style changes wit...
Not just Van Gogh artwork, included some by other artists. But there was a lot of his art, he was prolific and this museum has hundreds. Some of the visitors were unaware of their surroundings and would stand in front of these masterpieces looking at their smartphones. Tickets were handled online a...
The exhibit is so conclusive and vast in its reach. Be sure to get tickets well ahead of time because it s very worth it. One feels totally immersed in the world of one of such a crazy inspired troubled man.
Stunning. We got an instructed tour, only an hour, and the guide was fantastic. The artwork alone is, well, it's Van Gogh, plus an interesting number of contemporaries for contrast. The story (well-told) of his incredible evolution over a mere 10 years is incredible. A must-stop in Amsterdam.
To me, this has been the best museum I have ever visited. Well organised, classified on the basis of parts of Van Gogh s life and inspirations. The museum also features some letters between Van Gogh and his brother, as well as with some of his fellow artists - converted to audio. The museum just doe...
It was the greatest experience in my life: the museum is superbly organized, with great paintings all around you. It's obvious that the organizers trust the visitors, because every art piece is securely showed without any glass. A must-see!
Enjoyed it even though I don't know much about art. The audio multimedia guide was really helpful in explaining his style, work and the meaning behind it.
Lots of great art spread over 4 floors, only downside I would say is that you are not allowed to take any photos and the security there will tell you to put your drink in your pocket even if you aren't drinking it (even though we were let in while freely holding a drink) p.s you will get told off if...
An excellent museum and very informative on the life of Van Gogh, bit bewildered that there was no mention of Starry Night (currently on display in New York) - it's as if the museum is pretending it doesn't exist which is odd
It was a nice museum. Restaurant with alcohol inside if interested. Tickets are only available online. Starry Night painting is in New York, not at this museum.
Apparently even if you buy the tickets online you need to queue in the street and step into water to get in. The guys at the front door were rude, disrespectful and useless, the wardrove lines couldn't have been longer and the museum was absolutely crowded. While I love Van Gogh's art and enjoyed th...
The best exhibition on Van Gogh anywhere. The recorded guided tour is really well done. Get tickets way in advance if you re in Amsterdam during the summer!
Large collection of Van Gogh works alongside his inspirations and friends. The admission fee is well worth the price for the amount of work you get to see across the 3 floors. If you get a chance to see the David Hockney exhibition then I i highly recommend that as well.
A wonderful art museum that shows both the art and life of Can Gough. Tickets must be bought online ahead of time for a specific time slot. It is advisable to get tickets for time slots earlier in the day as to avoid the rush of people that come around early afternoon/noon
Van Gogh was a prolific painter, and the three floors, full of paintings, history, and fun of this museum make it very clear. The audio guide was pretty useful, and the store is also good.
The museum presents the timeline of Van Gogh but doesn't really direct you to go in any particular direction. You can end up at an art piece which Van Gogh painted after admitting himself in the asylum and after he cut his ear off. The media guide is really helpful but there was no easy way to go in...
Excellent museum for young and not so young. My kids 11+ enjoyed it. The smallest 4yr old. Not so much as could not yet do all the scavenger hunt. For everyone else the audios are perfect and well translated, listened to two languages. The staff is not around, and is not always friendly. The ticket ...
Don't miss this completely modernized museum, however, most of the Van Goghs that probably come to mind aren't here. If you are a Van Gogh fan, there is much to enjoy, letters from his brother Leo and other insights into the man's life, plus plenty of sketches, early works, and yes, a few of the big...
The Musuem is very interesting! The multi media guide was very helpful. The current exhibition; Van Gogh Dreams is definitely an experience worth trying!
Fantastic museum. The best attraction we visited in Amsterdam. The exhibition has his finest works exhibited in chronological order with examples of influential works and Van Gogh s personal letters to give excellent insight into the evolution of his works. A must see.
