The University of South Carolina Upstate, commonly known as USC Upstate, is a public university located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Established in 1967, the university has grown to become one of the leading institutions for higher education in the region. With a focus on academic excellence and personal growth, USC Upstate offers students an opportunity-rich environment that prepares them for success in their chosen careers.
At USC Upstate, students are challenged academically through rigorous coursework and research opportunities. The university offers over 40 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across five colleges: College of Arts & Sciences; George Dean Johnson Jr. College of Business & Economics; Mary Black School of Nursing; School of Education; and School of Visual & Performing Arts.
The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest college at USC Upstate and offers a wide range of majors including biology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, English literature and language studies among others. The George Dean Johnson Jr. College of Business & Economics provides students with hands-on experience through internships with local businesses while the Mary Black School of Nursing prepares students for careers as registered nurses.
USC Upstate's commitment to student success extends beyond academics to include personal growth as well. The university provides numerous resources such as career services center that helps students find internships or jobs after graduation; counseling services that offer support for mental health issues or other personal challenges they may face during their time at school.
In addition to academic programs and support services offered by USC Upstate faculty members are dedicated professionals who bring real-world experience into their classrooms which makes learning more engaging and relevant to today's world.
USC Upstate also boasts an active campus life with over 100 student organizations ranging from academic clubs like honor societies or debate teams to social groups like fraternities/sororities or intramural sports teams which provide opportunities for leadership development outside classroom settings.
