If you are craving classic pub food, this is the place to go. They have a pretty good selection of draft beers and they offer pretty good specials on pints for happy hour. Love the schnitzel, bangers and mash, scotch egg and shepherd's pie. The service is overall decent--prompt and they always get orders right. It can get pretty loud at night but its pretty relaxed for dinner time.

Really annoyed that I just spent $30 on food we didn t eat. I got the chicpea curry burger and couldn t get through it. I ordered a side of veg vs the fries it normally comes with and was presented with 2 small beets. My boyfriend said his fish and chips weren t worth it. Disappointed to say the least.

A very authentic British pub indeed, perhaps too much so. Walking in the restaurant you catch a real sense of England. Unfortunately things went downhill after sitting down. The temperature in the restaurant must have been a balmy 83 degrees. We waited over 20 minutes to get our drinks and another 20 minutes before the waiter came back to take our order. Although we were parched due to the sub-saharan climate in the restaurant, our drinks were rarely refreshed. When the food finally arrived it was bland and dry. I might recommend The Old Toad for a drink or two (if you can afford it), but eating there again is out of the question.

A wonderful authentic English pub with some authentic (and excellent) English food as well. I got the Scotch Eggs and Curry Turkey wrap which was delicious, plus enjoyed some excellent English beer. They also have Cask beers available to try here as well. Very friendly bartenders and staff!

I've been going to the Old Toad for over two decades. It's a faithful (as far as I can tell) recreation of an authentic British pub. As such, they've got a wide selection of beers, both British and otherwise, as well as cask-conditioned ales which are hard to find around Rochester. Great food too; check out their excellent fish fry on Friday!

I was knocked off my feet when i sunk my teeth into their version off a cornbeef sandwhich. I actually like it better then a Reuben..which is insane!! If you are looking for a good night out and a cool atmosphere.
Definitely go to the Old Toad!!
Best restaraunt ive eaten at in Rochester.

I don't just hand out 5 star reviews but this place earned it. The GM, Kevin, was amazing. His knowledge of beer was impressive. He made us his friends and as a result we'll be returning.

The food ... oh the food! We started the party with some scotch eggs. This was my first time having scotch eggs and I promise it won't be my last. A hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage is my kind of party. We washed the scotch eggs down with some bangers and mash. I've had bangers and mash before but this was on a different level.

This place was fantastic and shame on me for waiting so long to check it out.

I am so disappointed in this place. I ordered a side of mac and cheese, and it came in one of those tiny plastic ketchup containers. What a ridiculously small portion, I thought it was a joke. Also they have very few veg options and they are always out of them. I used to love coming here for the veg food and after today I will never come back!

It's my third time to the resturant. The beer list always is new and exciting, and the food is damn good too. However the third and most recent time was a poor experience. The OT burger (probably my favorite in rochester) was considerably smaller than before, the bacon wasn't cooked, and the sauce was also noticeably different. I wasn't a fan of the change especially considering I payed full price for a sub part burger. However the scotch egg, Shepard pie, and British chips all have great reviews from friends and family I have ever gone with. But please, fix the burger!!!

So we visited this place 4 years ago. We had a fabulous meal and very authentic english menu. Recently we went there for dinner. We had sausage roll, Scotch egg, fish and chips mushy peas and gravy. The fish was excellent. The rest was so-so. There's other places to go, if fancy english pub food. If you want drinks only, then it's a fun place to go

A fairly authentic English pub. The have cask ales, scotch eggs and drunken cheddar scoops are all worth stopping in for. It s a large space with room to dine or just stop for a drink. The lot in back is available for $5. If you park, will get a free drink ticket for inside too.
