The window for closing an account is 2 to 4 weeks, which is huge. Called at 2 weeks, they said they've been taking and average of 3. Called at 3, they said 4 weeks. Then at 3 weeks and 2 day I get a letter that said check would be mailed in 10 business. I know they can't make money without someone else's, but I'm starting to think they don't want to pay it back.
TCDRS has been great for me personally. Our retirement account is secure and the progress and growth of the retirement account is remarkable. We have had great customer service since enrolling 12 years ago. TCDRS staff is very knowledgeable and keep us informed. The thing I love the most is that we are assigned a representative to our district that helps with all of our needs. Her (Erika) assistance is valuable to us.
Worst customer service. I ve called TWICE!!! This place is trash. If you have a 401k please check who they have as a company. I recently left my job and this are my savings they re playing with. The woman who I spoke to today said they needed to verify with my employer the date I had left. My last date was the 5th of October of 2020 and they still can t move along with the process. That I filed same day I left. I asked if I could provide a sign letter made by my employer and she said no. That they were gonna take their sweet a** time I guess.
I've been trying to access my account for over a week, the website is down, and calling is NO HELP
Idk who this people think they are but my husband called today for his retirement and instead of tryin to help they argue with you. At this point is ridiculous. I work for a call center and give customer services and I m surprised this is acceptable. Please expect more bad reviews.
No longer working... still waiting on my check... almost 3 weeks now.
Although I've officially resigned from the Harris County Sheriff's Office on 09/06/2021, TCDRS still has me in their system as an "Active" employee, refusing to release the funds that I've worked for. This is unacceptable because I submitted the application to TCDRS on the same date that I submitted my notice of resignation to my employer nearly 3 weeks ago. These people are terrible and unethical in their dealings!
Called with an issue agent had no idea how to fix it he said he ll call me later with an answer..... never called back.
We just called. Got no help we requested for direct deposit for my husband retirement Monday. We waived the 30 day. Which was on their website. We call to ask for an update and the first thing the representative says oh expect to wait up to a month. No help what so ever didn t even look at our account. Very unprofessional staff.
I have had an account with TCDRS since 1988. Now, I am the administrator that takes care of our employee deductions and our entities payments to TCDRS. Every single time I have ever had to contact TCDRS, they have never failed to answer my question, or get me the info that I have needed. I tell my employees that the customer service call in line at TCDRS is the BEST and instruct them if they have any questions at all, to always call them. Many of them have been there for years and I recognize them when I have to call in. We have had TCDRS reps come out and do seminars and one on one visits with our employees and that has been wonderful! On a personal note, I am so glad that I stuck with County government, and realized early on how very valuable my retirement account actually is. I have watched my money grow, and I know when I retire, my TCDRS retirement is one thing I can count on. As an employer, its the best tool we have for recruitment by far! I love this system, and I have seen many over the years. I would stack TCDRS above anyone!

Tcdrs: Providing Reliable Retirement, Disability and Survivor Benefits Since 1967
Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) is a trusted organization that has been providing retirement, disability and survivor benefits to its members since 1967. With over 700 participating employers across Texas, TCDRS is one of the largest public retirement systems in the state.
The mission of TCDRS is to provide long-term financial security for its members through prudent investment management and sound actuarial principles. The system operates on a defined benefit plan, which means that retirees receive a guaranteed monthly income for life based on their years of service and salary history.
One of the key features that sets TCDRS apart from other retirement systems is its funding model. Unlike many other public pension plans that rely heavily on contributions from taxpayers, TCDRS is funded primarily by investment earnings. This means that the system is less vulnerable to market fluctuations and economic downturns than other plans.
Another advantage of being a member of TCDRS is the flexibility it offers in terms of retirement options. Members can choose from several different payout options when they retire, including lump sum payments or annuities with varying levels of survivor benefits.
In addition to retirement benefits, TCDRS also provides disability and survivor benefits to eligible members. Disability benefits are available to those who become disabled while actively employed or within six months after leaving employment with a participating employer. Survivor benefits are available to eligible beneficiaries upon the death of an active or retired member.
TCDRS prides itself on providing excellent customer service to its members throughout their careers and into retirement. The system offers online tools and resources for members to manage their accounts, as well as personalized counseling services for those who need assistance with retirement planning or navigating the complex rules governing public pensions.
Overall, Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) has established itself as a reliable provider of long-term financial security for public employees in Texas. With its innovative funding model, flexible payout options and commitment to customer service excellence, it's no wonder why so many Texans trust TCDRS with their retirements futures.
