I came here several years ago and the food was great. Went back 2 days ago and was sooo disappointed. We ordered our drinks when we first sat down. We literally got 2 appetizers and 2 entrees before getting the drinks. We had to leave our seats and walk to the bar to complain. The bus boy visited our table more than our waitress did. It wasn't busy and it was mid day during the week. So disappointed.

Went to Soco last night 6/15/13 for a Pre Father's Day Dinner. It was very crowded and the hostess told us it would be an 1.5 wait, we decided to wait. When we were seated the whole party ordered the Red velvet waffle with chicken. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!! We would definitely be making another visit to Soco Resturant real soon!!!!

Good atmosphere, however Customer Service is terrible!!!!!

Pros:
The bar area is nice and bartenders provided great service which is the only reason they are getting 2 stars.
Live violinist that was also the DJ was good
Drinks were good

Cons:
Management horrible: went there for a birthday celebration on a Saturday afternoon, I was informed since it was 8 people we must order from a pre-fix menu and not allowed to order from the regular menu. The prefix menu as the starter you have only 2 options a Cesar salad or chicken wings. Since I don t eat dairy or chicken, I ask the waiter could accomidations be made and another salad option be offered. The waiter said let me get the manager Sean and see if it can. When he arrived to the table he told me no accommodation could be made accept that he would take the Cesar out of the salad. When looking at the ingredients, by doing that it would only leave kale lettuce. At that point I stated to him if you do that you would only be bringing be a plate of lettuce at which time his reply was yes that is correct . Keep in mind they had other salad options at the restaurant just not on the prefix menu. His attitude and the way he handle me left a very bad taste in my mouth, I only stayed because we were there for a family birthday, I just did not eat there due to the lack of customer service, especially when someone has dietary restrictions.

I advise you to never go there with a big party or you will be subjected to a certain menu and although the drinks and music is good, the lack of customer service and accommodating the customer is not worth spending your hard earned money there. I won t be back.

Unfortunately, the hype surround SOCO was overshadowed by the terrible service we received while dining. Our server, Crystal, was obviously disengaged and had little motivation to ensure the table was properly taken care of. She collected our order, and dropped off our drinks and was virtually unseen for the remainder of the meal. Water and food was delivered by runners. Our hush puppies appetizer was served STONE COLD. Drinks were completely empty and not offered to be refilled until the check was being printed. Asked for a side of barbecue sauce that was never delivered. Appetizer plates were whisked away by the runners while we were still eating. A mandatory 20% gratuity (which from what i understand is "tiered" with percentages changing based on how many individuals you have at the table) will drive this business into the ground. Servers lack motivation to take care of their guests and have no fear that their tips will be impacted. Too bad, because overall, the food was pretty good. Unlikely that I will return.

The food was fine however if it is your first visit and your unaware they do not bill separately and it is a restaurant policy. It's fine if it's the policy but ask customers if they are aware of it in a group before they start ordering food especially when they ask for separate checks in the beginning instead of ignoring the request. The manager was nasty about the request and never said it was store policy but that simply it would be on one check with attitude. Finally the waiter explained it was store policy.

This spot had been bookmarked for months and I was excited about trying the food after reading all the rave reviews. I ordered the chicken and waffles that were really good. I also ordered a side of the $9 mac and cheese based on the rave reviews from yelp and was greatly disappointed. The mac and cheese was truly a let down and waste of money. The ambience of the restaurant is cool and the staff were friendly. Prices were affordable and I would return and wont touch that mac n cheese.

First, I would like to start off by saying how amazing the food was. I ordered the baked bbq ckicken which had some Asian bbq sauce on it. I didn't expect the chicken to be so big, however, I'm glad it was because it was absolutely delicious. My chicken came with mashed potatoes and string beans. I asked the waiter if I could swap the mash potatoes for the Jalapeno cheese cornbread. Unfortunately, at this restaurant you cannot swap sides which is RIDICULOUS. So, I ended up having to pay extra for the cornbread. I must say the cornbread were very fresh and moist. Around the edges were very buttery and crisp. Our waiter, Crystal was very inattentive and wasn't around at all to ask my friend or I if we needed anything or if the food was okay. They're extremely comfortable with not giving the customer service deserved because there is a mandatory tip. Overall, the food is good, but the service isn't at all. I'll go again, but If I receive the same service I will not be leaving a tip.

Came here for a birthday party on a Sunday. Sunday brunch is all day. I had the F-Que Wings and the Mac & Cheese which everyone seems to rave about. I also got a free order of cornbread with honey butter with my Yelp check-in. Everything was good but my only critiques would be the dry cornbread which I'm glad was free and the tzatiki dipping sauce for the wings. The sauce was good it just doesn't seem an ideal dipping sauce for the wings. I appreciate the fact that it's a Black owned establishment and that the servers were so eager to please. The manager is also buzzing around constantly making sure everything is running smoothly.
P.S. get the red sangria it's delish

I literally walked in & asked if they take Amex. The manager (possible owners response) we take every card And I go to pay and they refuse to take a card without a chip. First of all, you need to have a sign or disclaimer not every Card has a chip. Secondly, that was the first question I asked you before I ordered. (Had to walk up the street to find an atm) Seriously so annoyed with the management decision because they could have easily taken my card he just didn t want to. There is nothing worst than poor customer service.

This place used to be one of my favorite spots to eat. We haven't been there in a little while. Man were we disappointed. The red velvet waffle had too mch chocolate in it, chicken spicy and wasn't good at all. Mac & cheese (which was our favorite) was just ok, white cheese grits was not good at all. Our server was very nice though. Additionally we ordered 4 plates of chicken & waffle, 3 flavored lemonade, & 2 shirley temple and paid $179. Very disappointed!!!

Marc Daly begrudgingly being a husband, disrespecting his wife on tv should get him and his establishment shut down ! This is not the Brooklyn way. Abuse should never be tolerated stop spending your money here, you are creating monster, inflating his ego, and celebrating his complete lack of dignity for his family.
