'We find everything in Samaritaine' a little step back to remember the prestigious facade, seen from a fly boat 'star of Pont-neuf'. The name of La Samaritaine comes from the name of a water pump located on the Pont Neuf whose existence dates back to Henri IV. This pump was decorated with a representation of the episode evoking the meeting of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the Well of Jacob. Hoping that the work comes to an end ...

Its name comes from an old Pompe built on the Pont Neuf under the reign of Henri 4 (see history of La Samaritaine) Founded in1870 by Ernest Cognacq and his wife Marie Louise Jay, between Le Pont Neuf and rue de La Monnaie. The Spouses undertake in 1910 to build another store in another district of Paris A new store intended for a more affluent clientele.
The Samaritaine de Luxe opened in 1917 at 27 rue des Capucines. Its motto "We find everything Samaritaine" has long been taken up by advertisements throughout the last century, but for too long years the Samaritaine has been in the works, its opening is scheduled for 2018, in principle.

I very much regret its closure the 4S was a place where you could find everything you wanted it was a bit expensive but but it was something in the capital which in addition in full Paris ... say that 'a large part is going to be a luxury hotel a palace somewhere that saddens me its going to be reserved for a handful of privileged people exclusively.

We saw images of the interior a few weeks ago on television, we could believe that the opening would be imminent ... Apparently it is not in the near future, there are still many traces of construction .
When Conforama closes La Samaritaine will open, it is a good thing even if it is regrettable that the first sign closes. It is not at all the same register ...

Building in poor condition ...
After 5 years of attempts at renovation, and not of total reconstruction,
Wednesday, June 6, 2018, a section of wall collapsed on a school and a nursery, in the rue de Arbre Dry, a street left open to the public, despite the risks associated with the construction site.
It is time for the City of Paris to seriously question the condition of certain buildings.

Interesting. Not well known
Too bad that the guardian of the place spend his time on the phone. I was given simulator training to introduce my group and allow them to return to their personal conversation

About SAMARITAINE

As the world leader in luxury, LVMH has been setting an example through its dynamic growth since its creation in 1987. Learn more about our prestigious Houses.

Samaritaine: A Luxury Brand under LVMH

Samaritaine is a luxury brand that operates under the umbrella of LVMH, the world leader in luxury goods. Since its creation in 1987, LVMH has been setting an example through its dynamic growth and innovative approach to business. Samaritaine is one of the prestigious houses that make up this global conglomerate.

The history of Samaritaine dates back to 1869 when Ernest Cognacq and his wife Marie-Louise Jaÿ opened a small shop on Rue de la Monnaie in Paris. The couple had a vision to create a department store that would offer customers an unparalleled shopping experience. Over time, their business grew and they expanded their operations to include several buildings on Rue de la Monnaie.

In 1905, Cognacq commissioned architect Frantz Jourdain to design a new building for Samaritaine. The result was an Art Nouveau masterpiece that became one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris. The building featured a stunning glass roof, intricate ironwork, and ornate decorations that reflected the style of the era.

Over the years, Samaritaine continued to expand its offerings and became known as one of the premier department stores in Europe. It was renowned for its high-end fashion brands, luxurious home goods, and exceptional customer service.

In 2001, LVMH acquired Samaritaine with plans to renovate and modernize the historic building while preserving its unique character. However, due to various legal challenges and delays over many years from local authorities regarding safety regulations compliance issues related with fire prevention measures; it wasn't until recently that renovations were finally completed.

Today's Samaritaine offers visitors an unparalleled shopping experience with over 70 luxury brands across fashion accessories & leather goods; beauty & fragrance; watches & jewelry; wines & spirits; gourmet food products as well as home decor items such as furniture or lighting fixtures - all housed within this iconic Art Nouveau building located at Pont Neuf bridge overlooking Seine river banks!

As part of LVMH's commitment towards sustainability initiatives globally including reducing carbon footprint by using renewable energy sources wherever possible while also promoting ethical sourcing practices among suppliers worldwide - Samaritaine has implemented several eco-friendly measures such as installing solar panels on rooftops which generate electricity used throughout store operations during daytime hours when sunlight is available!

Moreover they have also introduced recycling programs for waste management purposes including composting organic materials like food scraps or paper products which are then used again either within store premises or donated elsewhere where needed most like community gardens etc., thus reducing overall environmental impact caused by waste disposal methods commonly employed today!

In conclusion,

Samaritaine is not just another luxury brand but rather represents something much more significant- it embodies values such as innovation coupled with tradition while being committed towards sustainability initiatives globally making it stand out from other competitors within industry! With its rich history dating back over century ago combined with modern-day amenities offered today- there's no doubt why so many people flock here every year seeking out unique shopping experiences unlike any other place around world!
