I know that stories of insurance companies are not new, but "if it's your gutter causing the leak, and the surveyor says that, we won't pay out, but we will log this as a claim to put your premium up."

The reply below is not true in substance. It was made clear in the call that I didn t know how to describe the lead part of the roof. It was made clear that they would try to use my inexpert definition to show it was something they wouldn t pay out on. I also got the impression that my surprised and angry response was not unusual.

I ve resubmitted the claim and they won't pay out because they "have no evidence it was caused by the weather". So when you think you're covered, you're not.

Following a complaint, they got back in touch with me to tell me that it is incumbent on me to find evidence that the damage was caused by the weather. I think that in the absence of this evidence, they are implying that I have caused it - or something. They are, meanwhile, paying the much smaller claim - for the (weather-related) damage. Yes, that's how they get.

Never claimed under home insurance in 20 years. Every stereotype confirmed, sadly.

Found Policy Expert via one of the comparison websites. I was able to get Buildings and Contents insurance combined for the same price that most others were charging for just Buildings insurance.

There's no way to stop auto-renewal on the customer portal like you're able to with most insurers, which is really annoying. I don't want to have to be forced to contact anyone, and would be more likely to renew anyway if I had this choice presented to me. Not having it simply leaves a bad taste and really hate the idea of a company being able to dip in and out of my bank account whenever they feel like it.

I've just purchased my Buildings and Contents insurance through Policy Expert. Of course I've not needed to claim yet so can't comment on that. However the online system that I bought it through was easy and quick to go through. The insurance price was very reasonable and the coverage is excellent. The compulsory excess was the lowest also which is a big bonus in my book. Fingers crossed when it comes to renewal time the prices will remain low.

I left it too late to advise on the changes to y renewal. I called the customer service line and received a quick response from an incredibly helpful lady. She was so good and when I lost connection she immediately called me back. She made all the changes and found a cheaper policy as well.

Simple no none sense policy purchase, online platform user friendly, didn't seem to get the endless add ons to select or deselect as usual these days, lost included in the policy for price so thumbs up for that. Price was right. can upgrade simply if i need to even though there might be an admin charge - just good to know.

Pretty good, great prices but we did get emails reminding us about our quote after we'd bought the insurance. Pretty straightforward though and I would use them again. Have no experience of making a claim however, just buying the insurance.

Had renewal notice and spoke to a gentleman that was able to significantly improve the figure. Actually pa ing less now than last year. This was great, meaning I didn t have to do the annual web search looking for a better deal. A very pleasant experience, well dealt with by Connor who did exactly as he promised!

kept me hanging on for a claim review, put up my premiums as the claim was still outstanding, I could not change insurers as my claim had not been settled and then turned my claim down. awful service, they just want your money, next chance I get I will swap to another company.

It was nice and easy to get a quote. For a first time buyer i was a little nervous about various covers available. It was all well explained on the website. However I'm yet to contact customer services unfortunately i can't comment on it.

Disgusting customer service absolutely useless. Have had to wait almost 7 days for bolier issues only to be told various different stories by actual engineer and customer service teams as to issue and related costs and also no clarity when told copious times there are young children in the property, in the end have had to have issue addressed privately stay away!!
