This shop and it s awesome team has converted me from Walmart bike shopping mentality. Used to think mom and pop stores are a rip-off (especially given the area) but I got fantastic, incredibly personalized, service (from the owner himself, no less) at a fantastic price. Kudos to the team.

I went to this shop on 01/28/20 for the first time because mi bike needed a tune up. I was very well attended by this people, the price was fair and the guy (who I forgot the name) did an excellent and fast job, I didn t even have to leave the place. Thanks Montclair Bikery.

Super helpful and got exactly what i needed. Out the door with a new bike for my kid in 30 minutes. Explained perfectly what my options were, didn t make you feel stupid like other bikes shops in Montclair, and I now will never go anywhere else, locally, because of this experience.

I recently purchased a new bike, and like my last 3 bikes, I counted on the team at the Bikery to help me get the perfect shiny new machine. I had a LOT of questions! That s just me though, and so had the opportunity to speak with probably the entire staff at one point or another and got really helpful advice from everyone. Dave who owns the place, help me decide on the best frame for my abilities, and got me started with options for all the components. With help from Tammy and Dave and a lot of patience from Anthony, I picked the partz for what I hoped would be a fun bike to ride. Anthony in particular really got me to think about details that shaped decisions about component selection that are going to change my thinking on my riding!

Once all the parts showed up, the team in service got my new bike together in short order, Dave C in service has worked on other members of my fleet of bikes, so I knew the build would be perfect, BUT of course I have questions, Ken (service manager) and his team in service, like the team in Sales had all the answers for me. Ultimately, my bike was perfect and all the details taken care of. Now I have an amazing bike that puts a smile on my face whenever I ride it (and often even when I don t).

As a follow up, I decided to have a full fit session with Anthony (spent a good bit of money for my budget on the bike, should spend a few to make sure the fit is perfect!) The process is a few hours, questions and answers, flexibility tests, pedaling on the bike, video capture, video review, you get the idea! Well after all of that, the adjustments were pretty small (I had a fit done about 2 years ago, so had been using those numbers/measurements), but man, what a difference in the on the bike feel ! Money and time well spent with the Bikery Team!

I knew what bike I wanted and found it at this great bike shop I ve never been to before. They had it unboxed and assembled before I arrived. They even cut the handlebars to make them narrower in minutes. I ll be going back for the big selection of accessories and positive attitude. Made my day to be there.

They solved my chain problem within minutes, and with no charge. Everything is OK with my old bike right now! Their services are economic but proficient!

Great people to deal with everytime. Jeff is especially nice and an awesome guy who will take care of you and your bike. Whether it's a 20 year-old hardtail or a carbon Niner, they will get it ready to go.

My Mountain Bike needed a fork replacement, at the time of drop-off I was told it will take a couple days, I was hoping for a quick turn-around. Nonetheless, they made it happen got the bike back early Saturday---perfect timing. Joe at the service dept. helped me out with the part(s) needed, he also worked on fixing the bike--GREAT JOB!!

I have been a customer of Montclair Bikery since the 1990's, and don't usually write reviews, but wanted to share my experience with this shop. In particular, I would like to say that the service department is excellent. I recently built a racing bike from a bare frame up. There were a few things that I wanted help with, and one of them was installing the fork. The man who installed it did a really clean job, and the staff is very professional even though I bought the frame from the internet(which many shops disapprove of and speak against). I was having some trouble with the chain not connecting securely yesterday, and again brought it in to the Bikery. They took the bike right away, easily connected the chain, and got the gears working perfectly also. They charged me a more than fair price, and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend the shop, and look forward to going there again!

thanks so much to all the guys at the Bikery for locating my new SWorks Venge Sagan #67/250. They got the bike shipped and built in no time and fitted up to my current bikes dimensions perfectly! Now back again to get my older Tarmac as perfectly fitted

We recently got brand new bikes from here and we were treated well with good customer service. The electric bikes were sick as well so if you are buying a bike I recommend.

I came into the shop last week and although there was a line brittaney took the time to answer my questions and help me decide what type of bike to get. (idk anything about bikes!!). She is a star sales person!

Montclair Bikery has always been our go-to local bike shop. We're so happy to see them moving across the street to a larger, more modern space with a fit studio and large selection of e-bikes (one of which I'll be getting soon!).

The fact that we'll no longer have to search for a parking spot when we visit is a welcome bonus. Good luck in the new space!

The staff always takes their time to help and they are very knowledgeable. Because of my schedule sometimes I can't make it to the shop until 4-430. Even if I arrive late with a problem they stay open a little past closing until I'm all set.

One of the best shops in northern NJ. I live 20 miles away but when i have a need that is the shop i take my bikes to. Nice people, clean place. Very recommended.

I was so impressed by the treatment we received at Montclair Bikery! I had just intended to stop into look at bikes and start my research, but the young woman doing sales was so nice and so reassuring that I felt like I was in great hands! And I thought that as a short woman, it would be harder to find an awesome bike, but she showed me the Specialized V which was so perfect, and it was a dream to ride. I love the support that comes with it - it speaks to the commitment that the business has to its clients. I am really happy I stopped in!

The ball bearings in my jogging stroller were shot and they fixed it right up no problem.

Disappointing service and more expensive than other bike shops.

Absolute boutique style experience down to the VIP treatment with Jeff. He walked me through all of the fundamentals and did not feel rushed in the slightest. Absolutely recommend this shop and ask for Jeff especially if you re a beginner like I am.

This is a super expensive bike shop catering to Monclair residents who can afford it. If you re looking for bargains that s not the place to go. and their customer service is good.

I have had a really good experience here overall. The technicians are knowledgeable and so are the people in the showroom upstairs. Kenny has been helpful over the past few years with our bikes services.

Went to 2 other bike stores in the area. Both said what I wanted couldn't be done. Walked into Montclair Bikery Service Dept. 30 minutes later, the tires I wanted were installed, bike test driven. Real professionals, great guys and outstanding customer service you don't see any more.

I bought my first bike from here before they moved locations. They gave me great one on one service and even hooked me up with their Montclair bike jersey for how much i spent. The new shop is clean and great. Yes, it's little more expensive but it's fine, everything is expensive these days. I bough a front derailleur since mine broke. They had one in stock for $38 (little over the price compared to online and other places) no big deal. Labor $25 for 10 min work. Fine i can live with that because the service was quick and they took care of me. After the install the chain was rubbing on the gears which wasn't before and wasn't properly set up when the new Front Derailleur was installed. I don't mind paying the full price and paying for labor little extra, but i expected better service. I understand you are much bigger and busier, I could have went to another bike shop much closer or done it myself but i wanted to give my business to where it all started for me but looks like things have changed.

I got a call from the owner and was able to to bring the bike back he took care of me personally. Thank for helping me and fixing this issue.

I bought 2 bikes from Tammy. One for me and the other for my 11 year old son. The service you get here is awesome. Very knowledgable and professional, as well as very family friendly. Super awesome!!!!

The entire process was super smooth and exceeded my own expectations. Its great to see a small business that truly values the customer, thrives in the customer interaction and should make many large retailers envious. I would highly recommend.

This is the bike shop you MUST go to. The owner David and his staff are excellent, professional and helpful in assisting you to find the right bicycle and accessories for your needs. I have now purchase seven bikes over the last 10years from them as my kids continue to grow into new sizes. It is made easier because they do accept trade-ins for the brands that they sell. The service staff will keep your ride moving properly and they offer custom fitting to your bike (for a fee). This is definitely the type of small business that should be supported.

Top notch service. I went into the shop torn between 2 hybrid bikes (one more comfort oriented and the other more performance). And Tammy and Jeff really did a great job explaining the differences and making sure I test rode both. And I left the shop very happy with the bike I chose.

Just bought a Specialized bicycle from them today. The young woman I dealt with was very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all of my 101 + questions. They have a fully stocked shop full of all the supplies you need and also have a repair and parts shop on site. I would recommend Montclair Bikery to anyone looking to buy a bike from a great and knowledgeable, and local bicycle store!

I purchased a Specialized Secteur Triple from Montclair Bikery a little less than two years ago. I had a good experience with my purchase due to the salespeople being very knowledgeable and friendly. I initially went in to buy a Specialized Alleze but after a brief conversation the sales person realized that this was probably not the right bike for me. I was persuaded to test ride both the Secteur and the Alleze. I bought the Secteur. This is the first real road bike I ever had and they walked me through the whole way. When I was shopping around some shops were a little intimidating to a novice. I was made to feel as though I shouldn t be there if I was part of their community or I was constantly being up sold. I had a specific budget in mind and carbon frames did not fit into that budget, yet most shops kept telling me about all the benefits of it and how I would appreciate it down the road. I heard there was a new owner of Montclair Bikery a few years ago and it definitely shows. I visited them a while back (under previous management) and wasn t happy.
Fast forward almost two years later and I m still a novice cyclist, lol, I break a spoke on my wheel and somehow got it caught in the chain. The rear wheel immediately locked up on me. Thank God I was going slow up a hill and was able to unclip before it was too late. I managed to get the spoke out of my chain and ride home. I called the bike shop and they were more than happy to fix the bike for me almost immediately. Then they realized I hadn t had my complimentary tune up and offered to honor it even though I was outside the first year.

A couple of days later I dropped off the bike and they fixed my spoke and fixed my bent rim. They took into consideration the fee because I bought the bike there. They replaced the broken spoke and fixed my bent rim, I even scheduled my bike s tune up.

After all was said and done I was extremely happy with the service I received at Montclair Bikery from the purchase a couple of years ago to the recent service of the bike. I m glad I decided to try them again and I am convinced I will not only continue to shop there but will recommend them to others. I normally do not write reviews but I felt they deserved it.
