Marshall Fields

This Macy's basically serves as a free tourist attraction. My mom and I enjoyed visiting it greatly and we did not even make any purchases. It has great architecture.

Still awesome but not quite as impressive as the old "pre-Macy's" store

and one of the busiest shopping days of the year, Black Friday. Workers in store friendly, store was in exceptional shape for as many customers that we're traveling through there that day. Great shopping experience so much to choose from

The ladies in scarf and hat department are marvelous! Other departments depend on day.

It will never, ever be Macy's. Have lunch at The Walnut Room. A true Chicago experience.

I have to travel to the city so my wife can enjoy the walnut room. She loves it, I'm luke warm about it.

Walnut Room just isn't the same. Bathrooms are deplorable.

We go there every year to see the holiday windows and have some hot chocolate in the walnut room. It's one of my favorite holiday traditions! Make sure you go back and check out there Christmas store. On the wall they put pictures of past Christmas it's so interesting to see them.

A fabulous piece of Chicago's architectural history, still containing a large department store.

I love the architecture of this place. I loved it when it was Marshall Fields, and I love it still as Macy!

Brunch at the Walnut Room is amazing! Great buffet with fabulous selections. Visiting Chicago and received a tip that this was a famous Christmas experience that we would really remember for a lifetime.

The room is well appointed with all the Christmas decorations you imagine.

Wait staff is helpful for us newbie visitors and suggested the buffet (a good choice) as we could sample everything!

You can find good deals, staff is scarce has been under major remodel for over 12 months. Not like it used to be, sad.

Historic store, great architecture, excellent service and products

Just a cool building with heaps of stories...history. Christmas season is a great experience for young and old. And of course, shopping.

Historic, festive, incredible amounts of goods sold.

Great burgers and affordable drinks a large selection of beers on tap.

Its where I shop now, with on-line shopping, so many stores are out of "business" gone forever. No more Marshall Fields & Company these days - Macy.

Good to see Macy's has kept up with the traditions of Marshall Fields, with the giant tree and the windows outside.

I just like the place and I like the offers they have.

Been coming here since I was a little kid I love Christmas time when they do the window display my daughter loved it.

Marshall Field's name is still the Cornerstone of the building. The place has and always will be Marshall Field's to me.

It's fun for tourists to see the Tiffany ceiling! I brought my British mother-in-law there and we ended up stopping in the Walnut room and trying on perfumes. Lovely place even if you don't shop!

Drinks in the Walnut Room brought back such childhood memories. The Christmas windows are nothing like the old Marshall Fields's windows that told a story.

Frankly, with the atrium and 8th floor tree viewing area gone, it's lost a lot of what gave it that "magic" feeling

Went there as I needed a new watchband for an antique watch. They have a small counter in the corner where an attendant shows you what is available and then installs it while you wait. Hard to find this level of service at a large department store these days.

Went to the Walnut Room for lunch. The was great and service was amazing!!!!

I went in to pick up an online order that I had stopped to the store. The line was really long. However, it was well organized and efficient. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Great job.

It's historical significance means a lot to me as it used to be Marshal Field's. Macy's was super helpful with the pick up options where you order online and pick up in store. It just took a while because there was a line. If they had more computers and team members to help when it gets busy it would be better.

Traditional Christmas visit but this year observation floor above Walnut Room closed for renovations. Tree viewing crowded and chaotic. Ladies room on that floor was absolutely disgusting. Many stalls filthy and no paper. Felt sorry for those who were experiencing the Tree and Walnut Room for the first time.

Stellar landmark. Don't miss the Tiffany ceiling or walnut room. There is a small sports bar in the basement for guys waiting on their significant other.

Another custom display install..this time for VIKTOR@ROLF fragrance in the iconic MACY'S on State street. All the fragrance ladies are very genuine and can match your personality to the perfect scent..try it ,you'll be pleasantly surprised

Was so much better as Marshall Field's! Windows are not much but the tree in the Walnut room is still gorgeous! Too bad it is so expensive to eat there!

This a Christmas tradition for. My husband and I. We always have lunch/dinner under the big Christmas tree, in the Walnut Room. Macy's looks beautiful this year. Lots of good deals!

It's pretty much one of the last great retail stores left. Chicago use to have so many. You could find quality items, clothing etc at a decent price. I would highly recommend you visit this architectually beautiful store outside and inside. View what they have to offer. They may not be around for much longer with the new genetations wanting to order everything online. Although I truely hope they will be around for a long time. I don't personally understand online shopping. Sizing is all over the place and you can't feel the material, the texture then you have to pay for return shipping if you don't like it or it doesn't fit. When you could just as easily walke into the store select the style, material, size and try it on. Then you can buy it or not. No shipping, packing back and forth. It seems much easier to me. Again, I highly recommend you to visit they have wonderful merchandize.

I'm so glad that this iconic building of Chicago is still a vibrant center of commerce. Great sales, friendly service, and all the nostalgia you could dream of.

The sales associate a friendly knowledgeable and very courteous good place to shop will revisit soon

I loved the shopping experience when it was Marshall Fields. The building is still beautiful, but the inside is now a generic Macy's with sub-standard service and disgusting bathrooms. The restaurants are all food court level now, including the formerly fancy Walnut Room. Part of the interior has been sectioned off (for offices or other businesses?), eliminating the impressive escalators and related open views to additional displays and year-round decorations no longer in place. This year, there are even less windows with the old holiday displays that used to draw so many people. It's just an average place to buy something now, and no longer a memorable shopping experience to encourage you to come back again and again to see what's new. And I reiterate the disgusting, outdated bathrooms. I sadly give it one star because I remember how great it used to be shopping and eating here.

Absolutely stunning historical architectural views. A must see to appreciate another piece of Chicago.

Fun place to visit, especially at Christmas time! Looking at the decorations inside and outside is fun as well as getting a holiday chocolate treat from the basement.
