I live in one so can't say too much but glad we've got Lib dem Councilors who are overworked but very good. New Estate Manager long overdue qr years we ask for trees cut back (lime trees, nasty things and corrosive). They eat our wooden gate every couple of years, we've got Red Ash reaction with concrete floors and gable end wall freestanding, been rebuilt and only the staircase screws holding it in. Engineers came out and said it needs long bolts through the wall into the floor. to stabilise it. Estate Manager says you're perfectly safe but our begroom door is an inch wider than it was. Six houses had quotes nothing happening. We'll die in here one way or another ;- /....
We're quite severely disabled, moving is too stressful and expensive. Their spare house is always in use, up a bank and not kitted out for disabled use. Oh well, do they care? Don't think so. We're just getting a ramp after 10 years of fighting with the last OT who retired with a lovely pension. The next door neighbour and us with several Dr's. letters etc asked for a drive out the path that's been used for years just for the 2 houses with no access, even offered payment, the answer was no cos yes is another letter longer and less work for them. Bus stop too close, concrete sewer pipe in way of next door. It's reinforced, steel cored, double thick concrete and the Bus stop is at least 30 feet from planned exit. How many bus stops are right on drives? Nexus say 34 on their routes but there is no law except where yellow boxes are painted on road at bus stop and then it's 30 feet or 15 either side. These people quote their own made up laws and safety rules and make them up as they go. I read laws, rules and regulations, safety etc. As an old big crane man I had to be good at that. Anyway, end of rant and off topic apologies to Google and any reader I've annoyed. Kind regards to all, I'm going to bed after getting the wife up and ready. Get 3 or 4 hours and I'll be up again. Not enough hours in the day Or night.

It was my first time visiting the housing section at Gateshead council.

Plenty parking spaces and about 4 or 5 disabled spaces that I had to use.

Really nice building and the staff at the main reception desk were very polite and friendly.

They told me where to go once I got out the lift, once there the reception staff were friendly, polite and gave me all the information I required.

I was asked to sit in waiting area and I would be called once the person I was seeing became available.

Once I was called the girl I saw was exceptionally friendly and very informative. I was talked through all the options available to me, giving a hand to fill in the necessary paper work and told I would get either an email or call to let me know what was happening next.

There is a cafe on the ground floor, also a number of computers for the public to use. Toilets were also on the ground floor and I assume they would be on all the other floors as well.

Useless my house is freezing boiler pressure has dropped to 0 and it's just 1oc outside. Only council can come and sort this boiler as it's old fashioned I'm unable to do it myself as dont have the equipment Having no hot water or heating isn't classed as an emergency . I have no shower so therefore cannot get washed and refuse to run a bath with a kettle we are not in the stone age will have to be a sink kettle flannel job I have clothes to get dry and do not own a tumble dryer like most as kitchen is ridiculously tiny i have bad sinus infection at the minute and need to keep warm They just dont care and when you ring emergency they tell you sorry it's not our rules we are not gateshead they're just 3rd party. Why does it say Gateshead Council home repairs service then. :/
