Hostel Las Mariposas

This hostel is run by two lovely german girls since Oktober 2017. The two girls and their voluteers did everything that we felt comfortable and like at home. The hostel is located only a few meters to the beach and to the supermarket.
I highly recommend to stay at Las Mariposa if you go to Samaras. If you go to Las Mariposa, ask for the next BBQ-Party, which is stared frequently =)

Awesome location, can see the beach while lounging in one of the hammocks! Great atmosphere for a variety of travelers.

I didn't stay here as they were full tonight that that I was to arrive. However I did get to visit a couple times and it looks to be clean and well run

This place is a disaster. I've been in other hostel in Costa Rica and they had nothing to do with this place.

The first room they gave us (a room for two) was infested with termites and had no bathroom no sink, nothing. This means we had to share the only two shower with 15 other people and only one of these shower had hot water.

When they gave us another room because of the termites(this one had a private bathroom and was the same price as the other one, so they were charging us the same price for less).

In that new room the smell was horrible, and had to sleep in dirty sheets, I was able to smell the scalp odor of the person who who slept on the pillow before me.

And on the top of that, don't think about using the wifi. It doesn't work or constantly disconnect.

Avoid this place.

Beautiful place, the people who work in it are super friendly and fun. Very clean, neat and tidy. The cutest hostel in Samara.

We stayed at Las Mariposas five times in the last four years and was very happy with it every time. It's clean and beautiful, the stuff is friendly and helpful, location is excellent, price is very reasonable. Will definitely come back.

The excellent international environment. Mattresses still good. The detail is in a bedroom upstairs with hot water; the water does not rise. And they are beautiful, they attend, Zsofia, Yenny & Rose

Great family atmosphere, very warm ... You can always come back to chat and is always in good hands ..... Living in a hostel is like being at home ....

Good location, close to the beach. Friendly staff. Found the dorm room dark & uninviting, with no locker to secure my backpack, just a small lockbox for valuables....so I opted to spend more and take a private room. Room was okay, with shared bathroom. Overall vibe of the place wouldn't make it my first choice if I returned....I've stayed in lots of more cheerful, colorful hostels.

Nice place to meet people. The owners are super nice and really make you feel welcome. If you come to Samara I really recommend this place.

This is the best hostel I ve ever stayed in. I came for a couple days and I ve ended up staying for over a month. Janna and Jen are the best owners, super kind and welcoming. The beds are so cozy and the hang out area is so perfect. I love Mariposas so much!

Basic hostel with a great atmosphere, laid back and chill, very friendly staff, do not expect luxuries. The kitchen and the common areas with a lot of hammocks encourage socializing.
Great location: 50 meter from the sea ( bring mosquito repellent)

The most beautiful hostel experience I ve ever had, you will not regret staying here. I booked for 2 days and stayed for over a week making the most incredible friends. Left feeling so blissed out. The communal areas are set up perfectly to encourage socialisation, group meal times and there s tones of activities the staff are more than happy to help recommenced and book for you.

Even though we did not get a chance to stay here because we walked in w/o a reservation; we were recommended another cool hostel. We all did partied in The Flying Taco the first night. Simply amazing people and chill vibes. Would love to stay here next time. I even learnt some cool Spanish words lol.

There was no mosquito net in between the roof and the wall and it was too warm in the room. We stayed just one night and quit...

Great people and nice clean rooms. Had an awesome time.

You are still super close to the beach but it's one street over from the foot and car traffic of the main street and bars. The owners, Jen and Janna were fun to get to know. While there we had a fun bonfire on the beach with everyone and a drummer that they knew. And we went with Jen to visit two separate rock pools at nearby beaches. Super mellow town as well. Great open mic on Saturday night with some pretty talented musicians. Their surf instructor, Chris, is also incredible. The beach is a great beginner beach for surfing. I've tried surfing many times and this was the first time I'd deem it a success.

I cannot say enough good things about Las Mariposas!! It's friendly, comfortable, great kitchen, perfect location right by the beach and close to town, with the loveliest staff in the world. I cannot wait to come back!

Good kitchen equipment for self-cooking. Grill, toaster, blender, everything there. Friendly staff. Proximity to the beach.

Great hostel. Perfect place to meet travelers from all walks of life. The hostel provides all needed amenities to have a good trip. Oh, location is a plus. A few ms from the beach.

I have stayed in many hostels, each seems to have its own strengths along with drawbacks. In some you can't sleep, in others, it's all there is to do. Hostel Las Mariposas somehow delivers a perfectly balanced experience. A relaxed common area encourages connection with other travelers, but there's enough space to keep to yourself, if that's your thing. The new kitchen area is huge and well equipped, and a couple of groups can prepare food at once. Later in the night, the party moves to one of the nearby bars, and it's quiet enough to hit the sack.

Hello :) The Mariposas was great! People are nice, relaxed, open and spontaneously flexible. There was room for your belongings in the kitchen, everything was well equipped and the chill area was really big and cozy. Would recommend it ever :) the people there have really taken care of and always tried to help. Really nice! :-) And its near to the beach!

Wonderful hostel where you feel welcome and at home from the moment you arrive. The staff is always very kind and ready to help. The hostel is nearby the beach, also the supermarket is very close. You can't choose a better hostel in Samara ;)

Best hostel experience I ve ever had so far. From the moment we walked in, we had a warm welcome. It felt like my own living room @ home. Jada and Jen are so sweet. There are nice places where you can chill and socialize. The activities that I did and the memories I made I will never forget. I stayed at a lot of hostels in Costa Rica but this was the best!!

Very nice staff, rooms were ok for the price. Has a good vibe and my met some very cool people. Very close to the beach, town and restaurants.

Excellent location 80 meters from the beach and one hundred meters from the town center. diversity of animals, you can make many new friends, comfortable beds and large dorms, hot shower, large and well equipped kitchen, large common areas, the owner Leonie is super friendly. An EU place I will never forget. Good luck to the new administration, two very good German girls.

Very nice hostal! Really chilled area good kitchen and rooms. Sometimes party with DJ and almost everyday actions like going to a waterfall, volleyball, walking and so on. As employees are all international volunteers they are on to do adventure too:)
Surfing is only for beginners as Hurricanes and earthquakes destroyed the reef and sandbanks.

Good people, nice common areas, good location, but needs more ventilation in dorm, and fix that drip in the kitchen before someone gets sick please. Recommended regardless.

Very clean, tidy and close to the beach. The administrators are very friendly and attentive. I was able to work a week from the hostel making use of the common areas. I will definitely go back when I get the chance!

I spent 5 days at Las Mariposas and could't have made a better choice.

The location couldn't be any better, as its a 2 minutes walk from the beach, a 4 minutes walk from the next supermarket and close to bars and cafes. The hostel itself is very cozy with plenty of beautiful and thoughtful details. Private rooms/dorms were clean and so were the bathrooms and the shared kitchen.
The staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome from the very first moment. Wish I could have stayed longer!
