I visited this hotel for a conference. When we arrive at 4pm out room was not ready, although we were told check in is at 3pm. The cleaning staff did not do a good job cleaning the room and they actually complained which my husband overheard about us leaving a towel on the floor. Lastly I ordered room service, burger and fries, the meal arrived with not utensils or condiments. I call and asked that they bring those things up. They did but 15 minutes later when the meal was cold. I complained next day to the front desk, they said it was nothing they could do. mmmm bad customer service.

Making the short drive up to High Peaks from Montreal was well worth the trip. We had our dog in tow and I can not say enough about the resort and their facilities .. simply said.. this resort should be the benchmark for others !! From check in to check out.. all was smooth. For the folks who are concerned about pets being allowed on prem .. you need not worry you would never tell there were dogs there .. including our Lab Quinn. Luv'd it guys will surely return. Thanks for making this trip memorable stay.

Cheers

High Peaks is a total JOKE! early check in set 3 weeks in advance and what do you know we get there and have to wait 4 hours to be check in. then what do you know we were checked into a dirty room! The bed was still dirty for the last guest and had hair and mud all over it, and the real iceing on the cake was after being in the car for 6 hours the bathroom was nasty the toilet not clean at all... not even flushed! the "guest services" were really nice when i called to tell them the room was dirty but the housekeeping attendent was so rude we almost got in the car and went back home! we also were to be put in a room with a whole load of upgrades and didnt get any of them but WE WERE STILL CHARGED FOR THEM!

WORD OF ADVICE STAY ANY PLACE BUT HIGH PEAKS!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights with our 5 month old puppy. Yes, the hotel is pet friendly, and they will authorize your card for a deposit in case of any damage. Just be a responsible, accountable, and courteous pet owner, and you will be fine.

They put us in the Waterfront building, which is across the street from the main hotel. As the name suggests, it's right on the water, and the view is amazing. This was a great choice because we were able to easily walk our puppy when he needed to go, instead of having to ride the elevator in the main building.

The accommodations in the hotel weren't super luxurious, but it was more than nice enough for us. We were very comfortable. There is no DVD player though, and that would have been nice to have when the weather wasn't nice during our visit. There are board games in the main lobby.

The main reason I rated the facilities as only "good" is that the WiFi is completely unusable in the Waterfront building. I needed to walk across the street to the main hotel lobby in order to get online. Normally, WiFi access isn't mandatory for me, but in an area like Lake Placid where cell phone reception is very poor and a data connection is almost nonexistent, WiFi is incredibly important. They could easily fix this by adding a few more hot spots in the building.

Finally, the service was fantastic. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful:

-The front desk staff was always polite, and I know this because I think I spoke to them every day we were there.
-When we got locked out of our room because our key cards de-magnetized (don't put them in your wallet or near your phone!), someone from the housekeeping staff walked me all the way back to my room and let me back in.
-When we realized we accidentally booked an additional night, the manager let us check out early with no cancellation fee, even though it was my mistake.

I can't really say enough good things about the staff. They really made our stay enjoyable. I'd highly recommend the High Peaks Resort.

Service is what stands out at this hotel. The staff sincerely seem to want for you to have a great time and they'll even stay past their shifts to run things. The rooms are nice and spacious with gorgeous bathrooms and they feel luxury. Just make sure to request that they face you towards the lake to get the best view. There is so much more to write about how nice the hotel is. The only thing I'd put as a con is that the pools only go to 8 feet, so there is no diving board, and the boating experience could be a bit better with more selection - currently there are one person kayaks, paddle boats, and a row boat. Not many things you can boat with more than two people

Originally booked for 70.3 Ironman weekend. About a month before, I called to cancel my reservation, which they confirmed and lost half my deposit (understandably so). The weekend of the race, I get a call asking me when I would be checking in. I explained I cancelled a month ago, and I understood that half of my deposit it was forfeited. She said "okay" and hung up. By the time the weekend was over, they charged me for the full stay! I called multiple times to try and get it resolved, spoke to reservations, accounts to no avail. More or less I was charged the full amount of my 2 night stay (2 nights) and I didn't even stay there! I even offered since I stay with them every year to just apply the second $300 to my next stay - they couldn't even do that.

Nobody has reached out to resolved, and if I don't hear from them I can safely say I will not be staying with them again. (I've been staying here since 2011) . Nice hotel, but this was handled very poorly.

Great place to stay for a visit to the Adirondack mountains. Great service and hospitality with a lot to offer for the spring and summer. Located right on main street and within walking distance to everything. The use of paddle boats, kayaks, etc was a huge plus! Very clean rooms, and a wonderful view.

Location, location, location!! If you're looking to stay at a place that has all the amenities and conveniences, this is it! This resort is just steps away from the main strip and overlooks Mirror Lake. They have their own restaurants, indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, bars, play room, gym.. you name it, they have it! They also provide lakeside activities such as row boats and kayaks which is included in the price! Technically you can just park your car and never go back to it until it's time to go home! That's how much there is to do.
They are also pet friendly which was the deciding factor for us. They provided a dog bed, bowls, and even a handkerchief for him to wear with the resort logo. It's all about the details.
The staff were very friendly. John helped with our reservation and Hunter checked us in. Both were extremely helpful and professional. We were greeted at the front desk with a friendly smile and a glass of champagne which was a nice gesture especially after a long car ride.
We stayed on the first floor of the Lakehouse. The room was clean, beds were comfy, and views spectacular. The room opened up to a nice lawn which my fur baby appreciated. Even though the resort was fully booked I barely heard or even saw any other pets. Everyone was considerate of one another. Families enjoyed themselves and played on the beautifully manicured grounds happily.
All in all this was a great experience for my family and I. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you are traveling with a pet.
We will definitely be back!!

I'll must defiantly give High Peaks a 5 star. I am a pilot and obviously do a lot of traveling which includes lots and lots of Hotel stays. I have never had ever had this type of a good experience with any other Hotel which I've stayed at. Of course our on personal courtesy's is a must of us all.
But even in the wee hours of the morning these people will help you find the coffee....lol.
They are very professional, take you question and concerns and address them as quickly as humanly possible with the many scheduled people other than yourself that are also staying there.

CLEAN ! Never had any thought that there might be bed bugs.....everything was CLEAN, I mean Clean. This day and age, that's important.

Fantastic just fantastic. I don't hand out many complements but I've taken the time because they've taken the time and deserve to be told of a Job Very Well Done. Good People!

Booked this 'resort' for an anniversary get away with my wife. And I say that lightly because it was more of an upscale motel. Room service was non existent even though it came from the restaurant right next to the hotel, staff weren't helpful at all. Pool area was a mess, the 'jacuzzi' was a glorified heated pool. We drive a truck, which forced us to park on the roof, which was unsalted our entire stay and a huge fall hazard with the amount of ice. The front circle wasn't even plowed or salted! The bed was terribly uncomfortable and walls were paper thin. You could hear children running around the hotel at all hours of the night, there were absolutely NO QUIET HOURS. The lobby was the only nice part of this hotel. Paid extra for a "superior view" room..... to see the other side of the hotel and maybe 6" of the lake.

Good value for price we paid compared to others in same location. Lots of things to do included in the room price. Paddle boarding and kayaking plus numerous pool locations. Hot tub without jets is looking dated. Room was good and fairly clean. Shower was cool but shower heads not mounted in good locations. I'm a shower connoisseur. Lol. Bathroom cabinet could use a good cleaning around edges. Fridge in room and very comfy bed. Quite and good selection for channels on TV. Overall good stay.

Outstanding place! Beautiful fall views from the room and comfy vibes in the resort. Friendly staff and excellent service. Nice local bars and restaurants nearby. Also many trails, hikes, and picturesque lake fronts within a short distance away. Overall, a very memorable experience. Amazing people at High Peaks, they really make one feel so welcome.

Overall, not a terrible experience but the facility can be in better shape. Its obvious they care about the appearance with the pools lined with nice flower arrangements. But other areas appear to be ignored with even basic maintenance. Service was good and pleasant. Rooms decently clean.

Hotel well located near the city center. Access to free rental paddle board, kayak or pedal boat. There is a small gym and a pool. The bathrooms have been redone, now it may be the rooms to update and change the air conditioning because it makes a lot of noise and is intermittent.

This is a beautiful resort. Complimentary champagne is offered as you check in. Staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are great size and beautifully presented for couples, not so great if children are in tow. Everything is very well kept, there is a fitness room and other fun things to do inside of the hotel. There are cool shops as you walk the street near the hotel. Check out "Jerky World"! I do recommend High Peaks resort.
