I find it hard to understand previous reviews around service, as we arrived we were warmly welcomed Eben looked very well after us. All staff interactions were positive. Food was excellent and wine very good. The property itself is very beautiful, this is not an overcrowded property which makes it ideal for a nice handcrafted experience.

Good wine tour and tasting experience. They take you through the cellars, bottling and shipping room, and then give you a good selection of wines to taste. Some interesting stories about the history of the vineyard, method cap classique, and even a little show of uncorking sparkling wine with a sword!

I'm a big fan of the unwooded pinot noir, and the sparkling rose was good too.

Lovely views over the franschoek valley.. a bit smokey this time because of the recent fires.

Our experience at Haute Cabriere at Franschhoek brewery was absolutely amazing. We took my mother there for her birthday and when we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff. We arrived at 11 and only left at 2. The atmosphere was spectacular, the view was magnificent, the staff were excellent and the wine out of this world. I would also just like to mention our tasting assistant Courtney, she was on top of it and super friendly. I would definitely recommend them to everyone. If I could I would give them way more stars.

Great! It was our first tasting experience in the area and the suggestion of the landlady who stayed in Cape Town hit the fly! Wonderful champagnes, roses and pinot. We ordered a cheese board to accompany it which was delicious, with 3 types of cheeses, bittersweet pastries and toasties. The combinations knelt down. The place is super yummy with a beautiful view of the mountains. Total price for 4 people: 600 rands, just under 200 reais. Worth a lot!

Absolutely spectacular scenery, very beautiful setting, nicely set up venue. The restaurant is on the top floor of the wine cellar, which is quite unique and special. It also has outdoors seating. Can't speak for the food, didn't have any. Wines I thought were mediocre, didn't really enjoy any. Maybe some of the MCC would be ok for someone who enjoys bubbly, but I'm not a fan.

Had the absolute best meal at Haute Cabriere on January 8, 2020. It was a Wednesday night and called ahead and luckily got reservations for the same night. When we arrived, we had a window seat to the most beautiful Franschhoek sunset. The service was impeccable. Foster was our server and kept the meal fun and light and always made sure to check on us and give us the best recommendations. The main courses were phenomenal... everything was cooked to perfection... 5 stars all the way around!

So.... you visiting Cape Town and you want to experience some good food. Some good views and just soak up the SouthAfrican sun, go for a wine tasting afterwards......this is the place to come and visit. The pricing is reasonable, the service is fast and friendly and the staff are well versed on the wines the sell. They have an excellent selection of wines and some brilliant (champagne) MCC. They have wine cellar tour, amazing restaurant and a wine tasting section. Safe and secure parking and you could spend the day here just chilling and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the the Franschhoek Valley.

Worst experience ever...went for wine tasting and was seated and waited over 30 minutes for someone to come over us and another group seated at about the same time both where just left and ignored...someone finally bought glasses over just as we where about to leave and then 5 mins later took them away...after about 45mins of sitting there someone finally came gave us some wine and then left..no explanation or anything...we where hungry so asked if they do platters and whem told yes, cheese and meat platters so we said please can we have a cheese plate, yes sure no problem..next round of wine,,, then we got our bill and was told our servers shift was ending and can we pay now because they are leaving..cheese plate was forgotten apparently, and at that point we have had enough and left... Never going back there.

I tried making a reservation on Sun 12 Dec. Manager Gershwin told me they don't take groups on weekends.
I go there very often qnd was never told about any changes.. This is apparently been tohe case for the last.two weeks and yet no one haa told me anything since I hqve been there 6 times in the last two weeks.

Guests are quite disappointed....

Very shallow reasins were given and finally a very rude comment from him ended the conversation.

Such attitudes do not belong in tourism

My visit to Haute Cabriere was nothing short of spectacular. Myself and friends were lucky to sit at an outside table while tasting wine, with an amazing view of the Franschhoek valley and surrounding mountains. The assistant serving wine was well-informed and gave a stellar breakdown of the wines and sparkling wines on offer. My favourite, of course, is the Haute Cabriere Unwooded Pinot Noir. It is unlike anything I have ever tasted - the front of the palate tasting the white wine undertones, and then developing on the palate with a taste that stops just before a typical red wine undertone. I left with a few bottles - and some Pierre Jourdan Brut Sauvage, the sparkling wine closest to "champagne" I have come across thus far. I would highly recommend a visit to this property.

Excellent views of the valley from the outdoors tasting area. The R55- tasting selection presents their best value for money wines, including sparkling wine, white Chardonnay Pinot noir and a light Pinot noir. The Franschoek wine tram stops at the estate and is the ideal transport if you are staying in Franschoek.

Terrible service in regards to online sales, ordered from them weeks ago, paid immediately, the the order was never processed. If I hadn't pulled them up about how I had not heard anything it would have dropped by the way. They said they would process the order immediately and then never heard back from them. I had to write to them again and ask for a refund. Waste of time, they have no idea how to run an online shop, which under the current situation you would think they would figure it out.

I did a house wine tasting. All great. The standard price for the variety of wines. Sensational service by everyone in the house, especially Enrico, who received us very well. The winery has a beautiful view of the city that is another attraction for the visit.

Sigh what a let down. Came here with high expectations of good service and ok wine... well I can say that I ve had wines at restaurants near that city or even in downtown SA and wine is light years better. I m not saying this place s wine is bad or nasty tasting ... it s just that is not at par to others. The view is nice outside with great gardens. Either you enjoy the view or enjoy the wine...hummm I enjoyed the view. Service can improve maybe if they hire more employees to take care of customers... well it s their choice of management style...

I have very special memories from this place.I got engaged here and my sister in law got married here thus it is close to our hearts I visited the tasting room on a Saturday afternoon. The view is so being enhanced by this new building and I just need to bring my bed here because I do not want to leave due to the view. The wine tasting was a beautiful experience and my only suggestion is that Haute Cabriere must stay with chardonnay and pinot noir because this is what they do best!!The MCC was great and my favorite was the Tranquil blush.I bought delicious breads and Garlic Aioli. Cannot wait for my next anniversary to take my wife again

A lovely setting with a delicious food and fantastic South African Wine. The pairing menu is definitely worth a try as the food delivers on both taste and quality & is further enhanced by the wine. The location is also amazing- with a great outdoor & indoor view the experience is definitely on that is unique & worth ever minute & cent.

After two weeks in Cape Town, Haute Cabriere surfaced as one of our favorite stops. While many wine farms put on airs, the team at Haute Cabriere - and most notable to our experience was the expertise and hospitality of Felicity - looks to share their craft in a way that welcomes connoisseurs and first-timers alike to the table. An excellent view, a signature pinot noir / chardonnay, and a buoyant atmosphere certainly made the trek worth it.

Nice location, but disappointed in the way we were treated. We arrived a little before 16:00 on a Saturday, and were told we could not do the 6 wine tasting, but could do the 4 wine tasting. We were sort of rushed through the tasting, and then were told we would only be served 3 of the 4 wines because the 4th wine (Pinot Noir) was "sold out". The only problem is we saw other people being served the Pinot Noir after we were told our 3rd taste was our last one. When we went to pay the fee for tasting, the staff apologized for the "mixup" but still charged us the full charge for a 4 wine tasting.
I've done wine tasting around the world, and found this a sub-par customer experience. On top of that, the wine was average at best.

Honestly, have no idea how this is not a 5 star rated place. The view alone justify the high rating. Additionally, it is owned by the nicest family and we had a blast. We showed up without a booking, and the place was fully booked, and yet they let us in, and treat us very kindly. The wines were amazing and the food was just as good. Also, Joni was our waiter and he treated us very nicely, and he was very knowledgeable about all the wines that were served to us. Thanks for a great experience!

Thank you for the extra bottle ;-)

Horrible place. Nothing compares to the neighboring wineries in terms of service and quality. View is amazing but that is about it. Had to wait 15 minutes to be seated and then another 15 minutes without service until eventually someone came and asked if we are leaving because they needed the table

Lovely setting but bland wines.

Perhaps they do wine tasting differently in South Africa compared to Europe but there wasn't much explanation on the wines. In fact I wasn't even going to be offered a choice.

They had two pinot noir chardonnay blends 60/40 and 40/60. They had one pinot noir red. The red and the off white were both bland with no real depth of taste or character.

My friend had their 4 sparkling wines which he enjoyed but they weren't remarkable.

Haute Cabrière: A Winery with a Rich History and Exquisite Wines

Haute Cabrière is a winery located in the picturesque town of Franschhoek, South Africa. The winery is home to Pierre Jourdan, Haute Cabrière, and Haute Collection wine ranges. With its rich history and exquisite wines, Haute Cabrière has become one of the most popular destinations for wine lovers from all over the world.

The History of Haute Cabrière

The story of Haute Cabrière began in 1694 when French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan arrived in South Africa. He settled in Franschhoek and started farming grapes to make wine. Over time, his vineyards grew larger, and he became known as one of the best winemakers in the region.

In 1982, Achim von Arnim took over the estate from his father-in-law who had purchased it from Pierre Jourdan's descendants. Achim was passionate about making great wines that reflected both his German heritage and his love for South Africa.

Under Achim's leadership, Haute Cabrière became known for its innovative approach to winemaking. He introduced new grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to Franschhoek which were not traditionally grown there before.

Today, Achim's son Takuan von Arnim continues this legacy by producing exceptional wines that reflect both tradition and innovation.

The Wines at Haute Cabrière

Haute Cabriere produces a range of wines that are renowned for their quality and unique character. The estate specializes in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir but also produces other varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot, Riesling among others.

One of their most famous wines is their flagship blend called "Pierre Jourdan Belle Rose". This sparkling wine is made using traditional methods with Chardonnay grapes blended with Pinot Noir giving it an elegant pink hue with delicate bubbles on your palate.

Another popular wine produced by Haute Cabriere is "Unwooded Chardonnay". This crisp white wine has notes of citrus fruits like lemon zest combined with hints of green apple making it perfect for pairing with seafood or salads during summer days!

If you're looking for something more robust then try out their "Pinot Noir Reserve" which has aromas like black cherry fruitiness mixed up with earthy undertones giving you an experience like no other!

Apart from these signature blends they also have a range called 'Hautes Collection' which includes some rare varietals like Semillon Gris or Viognier - each bottle tells its own story!
