Amazing place. I think everyone should go at least once to get an understanding of how much work and expertise went into those thousands of medieval buildings around Europe and elsewhere that we admire but take for granted. I've written a detailed review in Mechtraveller.
Unbelievable ! A dive in the heart of the thirteenth century! Book the guided tour seems essential to me to take the measure of this extraordinary project. Experience everyone. It goes without problem the day! Bowl with good products. Many, many queues at rush hour, it saves time pre buying its picn...
Guedelon, for lovers of stones that will become old, the tower of the castle is quickly done, the interior too. Ah still 6 to 10 years of work anyway to complete the construction of the castle. Various workshops stonemason, blacksmith, bricklayer, roofer ... and I pass. You explain their base of w...
A place for children to discover, for its castle as well as the fun workshops. However, for an adult, I don't see the point at all. Meaning of visit to review, non-existent explanations, very relatively small. The tour is done in 1 hour and I came out disappointed. I must be part of a minority in vi...
This place is really great, you have to visit it at least once as it makes us a visit to the past. It is very interesting to see the construction techniques of the Middle Ages used, especially since the staff are very friendly and open to discussion when they are stationed. I have been there three t...
Impressive visit! Since 1997 at work, 40 workers have been building a medieval castle. It is the only 'new' castle in the world! The most telling is the banquet hall, magnificent, and very realistic. From the windows of this room, we can see people in the courtyard, and we can easily imagine life at...
Fascinating to see the medieval systems of building expertly demonstrated. Plenty of hands on experiences. Lots for children. Very busy on the bank holiday but not overcrowded. Needs more cafe provision.
Always good, animators / workers friendly, competent and exciting. The good idea is to come back to it every 4 or 5 years to see the progress of the work!
It is very interesting and see how we build a castle is really nice. The staff is always ready to explain what they are doing and in a very fun way. It's just a pity that at 1:00 pm all the guided tours of the day are already full. It would have been nice.
A 40 year project building a castle using the traditional methods. Wonderful to watch the artisans going about their work. The castle is taking shape - fascinating to see how it is done.
Superb medieval castle under construction. All trades are represented. The explanations of the workers are very good.La visit is preferable with a guide.Acces disabled or but only around the castle (workshops, park) .Pets accepted in leash.Catering on site.WC on site
Fun, interesting, impressive, a unique experience: the teams are super nice and interesting. An amusement park where all the food is - is organic and local (there is no Coca Cola ... but there is locally brewed beer !!). Must do.
After a few years of construction, you can clearly see the progress. Very interesting designed to once back to the Middle Ages. Also very well prepared for children and families. Delicious food and good food available
Superb place to discover the construction of a fortified castle. Made by motivated people. A must see and rediscover every 5 years to see the evolution.
Very nice project but too many people this Friday of Ascension. Result: - too many participants in each guided tour group - the tail everywhere - impossible to approach the bakery and the mill - full parking Tip: go on a weekday and / or not a holiday!
Very pleasant tourist place near Saint Fargeau showing the construction of a fortified castle according to the method used in the Middle Ages. Visit to be planned for at least half a day. Possibility to picnic on site. Very well organized for the various activities of the site.
Beautiful day for Easter Sunday I recommend the guided tour to have the history of the construction of the castle then you can discover the 10 hectares of forest and many animations throughout the course.
Was never there but at some point I will go there and visit the castle, the idea of building a castle without modern tools, ingeniously simply ingenious.
Very beautiful castle and discovery of trades really instructive people very welcoming on the other hand big problems of indications to find the castle without GPS !!!
It is wonderful to see how medieval life is shown here. Extensive and enthusiastic explanation by the volunteers. Unfortunately on a busy day such as when we were there the restoration area was poorly arranged! Very long wait to be able to buy a tepid drink.
I have followed the evolution of this wonderful project for many years and visited the site three time and will be back again ... History in the making
Beautiful construction. Instructive. On the other hand it looks a bit like folklore, given the few workers on the job, the castle is not ready to be finished. Some workers on the workshops are not very open to explain their activity.
Very informative visit for all ages: the craftsmen of different trades give us very precise information, sometimes surprising ... Worth the trip, certainly!
A great place to immerse yourself in a time that is completely foreign to us and long forgotten. Admire the physically hard construction of a castle in the 11th century and the time-consuming production of various everyday objects that we take for granted today. It was an almost incredible spectac...
Original, The construction of a fortified castle with the means of the time seems improbable and yet ... For the moment it is successful. In addition, the participants (volunteers and employees) are super accessible to present their functions to us and really take the time to explain everything. ...
A park of passionate enthusiasts. The women and men who work there live their art and many know how to communicate it. A thought of the baker and the rope factory. Now a few suggestions on how to affect the wasps that come to us .... from all over the park: Send them to the galleys, mix them to m...
Good evening. Beautiful place. What progress. I went there in 2007. In 6 years everything will be finished. So I will be at the rendezvous Go go there. Viviane
The chateau is magnificent. The builders are craftsmen and true passionate artists. We learn a lot from them. Continue, hoping that this work never stops. I will return in a few years.
