Fresh fish, hipster interior, friendly service, and a good location close to Ocean Beach.
However, it gets very busy; here's what makes it not worth the wait: the food was undersalted and prices were too high ($20+ for two tacos and an agua fresca).

The fish here is so fresh and delicious. There's almost always a line rain or shine. Absolute worst when it shines

I love the simplicity of their menu with fresh ingridents. Their fish and chips is definitely worth getting. The and are also very good. Hell, bring a friend and get everything, the menu is a half pager. Lastly, this place is . We ordered three things and half a dozen oysters and the bill was close to $100. Emoji reviews ftw

Cute little fast casual spot not far walk from the beach. I got the Avocado Taco & my husband got the Fish Taco. Both were very good and cooked very well. My only compliant is that it is very expensive for the portion they serve. If they at least added fries or chips & salsa I think it would be worth it.

VERY PRICEY but the tacos were delicious. Quite filling and really had a nice flavor. The guac was very good. It had good flavor and a nice spice. Sitting outside in the garden area they have created at sunset was super fun. Would recommend and will return.

Delicious, fresh food. It has a one page menu, with burrito, taco, fish ans chips, crab cake option and a few more options. The crab cake was insanely delicious. The sauces are good too. I love the loud music playing. We got there at 3pm on a Saturday and there was still a line out the door! The only inconvenience is that there aren't enough places to sit. If other customers aren't considerate, you may have to eat standing.

Definitely one of the best places for fish and chips in San Francisco. Light and crunchy batter, fresh fillets, salt and peppered chips. Yum.

The texture and seasoning on Hook s batter on the fish from my fish and chips entree is the best I have ever had. This review is coming from a person who has sampled fish and chips around the Puget Sound region, the California coast and parts of New England!

Over priced, and the staff are a bit rude BUT the food is pretty good. I had a 5 out 5 experience and and 3 out of 5... so I will go in the middle.

Crowded and long lines let's you know how good this place is.... come prepared to wait in line. May be best to take food away. Delicous tacos, fish nchips and ceviche.

Really, the perfect little neighborhood eatery. It's the perfect expression of the chill surf vibes of the beachside blocks, but doesn't fall short of excellence. Freshest fish in lovely savory preparations, with just the right picks of beer and wine to accompany. Not enough seating, but any more would be wrong. If you just chill, a seat will open up at just the right time for your sandwich and tacos to change your whole day.

Fish and Chips are the best I ve ever had. I also enjoy the Poke! Everything is fresh!

Love the options for tacos. Options change over time and it always smells fresh. Some days be prepared to wait a little longer and limited seating. Take your order to go and visit the beach across the street while you eat (just remember to pick up after yourself ;)

If you're in the outer sunset, you should come here. If you're in mission bay San Diego, you should come here. If you're on the freaking moon, come back to earth and go straight here. We ordered everything, and I honestly cant pick a favorite. Maybe the salmon sandwich won by a scoche? I dunno, all so good!

Everything I tried was excellent. You definitely pay for it, but the food is top notch. The rock fish tacos were amazing. What's better than fish tacos and beer on a San Francisco sidewalk in the sun?

So happy we found this place! Finally a place that doesn t break the bank account and has good food.

While there is an overall rating of 4.8, the customer service is NOT good. They advertise they are open until 9pm, two times I have gone they stop taking orders at 8:00-8:15. I drive 30 min each time. Some young guy hanging out the window was paying more attention to a couple girls standing close to the window and tells me he can t hear me (because he s too busy talking up the girls). I repeated myself, he said he could not hear me. I pull my mask away from my face from 15 feet away (because I want to respect his space) and he starts yelling at me it s a f d up world. Customer service is a -3.

Hook Fish Co, Deserves a high appraisal and a definite 5 star review. Atmosphere, Ambiance and vibe of the place was great. Very clean they do a good job maintaining it, When it comes to their food they bring a very rare and different style to their menu that fetch such a call for uniqueness. Yes, this place is a bit pricey but in my opinion it was worth every penny.

Was really hoping this place would be great, but it was just okay. It's pricey for what you get, $16 for 2 half dollar size crab cakes and a handful of lettuce. Tacos were okay but not great, nothing that really stood out.

Ordered a NY Steak. It was a very low quality piece of meat. Mashed potatoes were thick instead of creamy. The coffee had a very bitter taste. The only reason I don't rate this visit 4 stars is the service/servers/waiters were excellent. Very attentive and kind. The food is better at Applebee's for goodness sake! Too bad. I live around the corner and this would be a nice, regular spot if the food was better.

Amazing fresh locally caught and sustainably sourced fish searched fresh or available to be purchased to cook at home. Tacos, burritos, and even the salsa are artfully crafted. They don t skimp on the fish in the servings either, making the purchase well worth it, and two tacos can be a meal.

This place is phenomenal. My friends and I all play beach volleyball at Ocean Beach and this is our go to spot after playing all day and working up an appetite. Super fresh seafood with a chill vibe. Sometimes the owner sees us when he's out at ocean beach and says hi. One of my favorite, go-to spots in SF.

The long waiting was worth it. Fish was fin, their tortillas are the key for their great tacos. Burritos are delicious too, full of flavors. Ceviche was ok, but I wasn't impressed.

Super fresh fish. Biked through Golden Gate Park and this is the perfect reward. On a side street off the beach, quiet, a few tree surrounds to perch on and the freshest tuna poke. My husband adored the crab cakes. Nice staff helped us figure out how to online order in person then be patient for the food. Turns out it was fast and easy. We will be back.

Hookfish has become my go-to spot for fresh fish tacos and burritos! The staff are very friendly as the whole place has a local,hip, surfy yet SF vibe. The owners Beau and Christian have successfully created a fun, exciting new place to hang out with friends, drink a beer, and catch the sunset.

Went for the salmon burrito and it did not disappoint. It was massive and delicious.

The establishment is small with minimal seating. Very cozy and calm atmosphere and eberyoje was super friendly. Would definitely come back.

Definitely worth the wait. Food is incredible and atmosphere is relaxed. While it might be a bit crowded I still loved it and would go back to try more dishes anytime.

Great little place in the city with a fresh view of the ocean. Often run out of things so get there early. The carrot hot sauce is addicting!!

If you are in the mood for fresh fish this place is great. The food is good, simple, and fresh. We got the fish tacos and sandwich with the watermelon agua fresca. Nothing really mind blowing about the food but it is done right. If you are in the area and in the mood for the menu, I highly recommend. The line can be long and there isn't much seating but it is worth the wait.

Excellent food prepared fresh and to-go after conveniently ordering on-line. Lunch time was popular, so there was quite a line to wait in to pick up the grub. The quacomole is an absolute can't-miss Must try!

The food is good... a bit under seasoned for me... service is very good... it's expensive... my wife and I have been there a few times.. is usually in the $80.00 range for us
