I originally contracted Engineered Tax Services in February 2021 to perform a Cost Segregation Study on an investment property, just a few weeks after working with another CSS company on a different property. The lady from Sales I spoke with was friendly and assured me this would be a fast process. Long story short, it is now September and I am still waiting for the report they created to be fixed, because it was rejected by my CPAs. To be fair, I apparently did not provide them with enough data on dates certain property items were put into use, but they are the experts and this was only the second CSS I had ever done so was not aware that there was any missing info. They did not ask for any clarification or additional data and compiled the report. (Note: The other company I worked with provided a full copy of ALL pages of their report with "DRAFT" written on each page, so my CPAs could review all of it. These folks only provided a few summary pages and require that you accept the report based on just that or request modifications). I erroneously accepted their report and when we received the rest of the pages, my CPAs reviewed it and pointed out that there were items placed in the wrong tax year. When I reached out to Engineered Tax Services about this, I was informed that I would now need to pay an additional $250 per hour to make these corrections and that it should take 2 hours to make them. For the sake of getting this completed, I agreed to pay the extra fees and was told it would be revised and sent to me within 1 week. It has now been 25 days since then and the 2 hours of work (literally changing about 6 CapEx items from 2020 to 2021) still has not been completed. Meanwhile, the other CSS company I worked with completed their entire report within 3 weeks, they were very responsive and there were no rejects by my CPAs. As much as I don't enjoy writing negative reviews about a business, my experience has been so sub-par that I feel obligated to warn other investors so they don't experience the same disappointments or incur additional expenses as a result of their delays.

ETS is a testament on how a company dedicated to the future of America should operate. Their strategic plans are lending to the success of businesses throughout the country. During this uncertain time, America needs solution driven companies and they are certainly one of them. Highly recommended!

They did help me with tax credits, but the service was too slow. They take ages to return my calls, and the people here are often too busy to listen to the customers properly. It's not an experience that I would like to repeat. There are plenty of other firms in the area

There are many downsides to being an ETS employee. First off, the job is not worth the pay, you will struggle to make ends meet. Then, the management only cares about the top line. They don't care about making things better for their employees. There was often severe lack of communication and disrespectful to employees. I would recommend you seeking work elsewhere.

About Engineered tax services

Engineered Tax Services is an independent and licensed engineering firm that performs over 10,000 cost segregation, 179D, and R&D tax credits.

Engineered Tax Services: Maximizing Your Tax Savings with Engineering-Based Solutions

Engineered Tax Services is an independent and licensed engineering firm that specializes in providing cost segregation, 179D, and R&D tax credit services to businesses across the United States. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Engineered Tax Services has helped thousands of clients save millions of dollars on their taxes by utilizing engineering-based solutions.

What is Cost Segregation?

Cost segregation is a tax strategy that allows businesses to accelerate depreciation deductions on certain assets by reclassifying them into shorter recovery periods. This means that instead of depreciating a building over 39 years, for example, certain components such as electrical systems or plumbing can be reclassified and depreciated over just five or seven years. This results in significant tax savings for businesses.

Engineered Tax Services has performed over 10,000 cost segregation studies for clients across various industries including real estate, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and more. Their team of engineers and tax experts work together to identify all eligible assets within a property and provide detailed reports that are compliant with IRS regulations.

What is the 179D Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deduction?

The 179D deduction was created as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to incentivize energy-efficient building design. It allows qualifying commercial buildings to receive up to $1.80 per square foot in deductions for energy-efficient improvements made to lighting systems, HVAC systems or building envelope components such as insulation or windows.

Engineered Tax Services has helped numerous clients take advantage of this deduction by performing energy modeling simulations and providing detailed reports that meet IRS requirements.

What are R&D Tax Credits?

R&D (Research & Development) tax credits are incentives provided by the government to encourage companies to invest in research activities that lead to new products or processes. These credits can be used against federal income taxes owed or even carried forward for up to twenty years.

Many businesses may not realize they qualify for these credits because they assume it only applies if they have a dedicated R&D department or lab. However, any business involved in developing new products or improving existing ones may be eligible for these credits.

Engineered Tax Services has helped numerous clients identify qualifying activities through their comprehensive analysis process which includes interviews with key personnel involved in product development as well as reviewing financial records related to research expenses.
