~ Course was in rough condition due to the drought.
~ Only nice grass were the greens and around the greens.
~ Sand was hard, not much give. ~ Would be a great course at it full potential.
~ Clubhouse is small and baron, staff is nice and laidback.

Greens are in fair to poor shape. Must say this is not worth the $27 or whatever that they charge. Lots of bare dirt, mud and well trodden grass areas. Maybe change this to a 9 hole course & charge the same amount of money and spend twice as much money trying to keep up 9 holes. Might be a better result
Greens in good shape. Tea boxes and Fairways need work need more grass.
Wide open fairways for the most part. Very nice staff.
Course isn't kept in the best of shape, but the price is good and the layout is fun. Definitely worth playing, just don't expect great conditions.
Probably the worst course in San Diego. Horribly maintained. More dirt than grass.
Course is in pretty good shape despite the wet weather over the past 2 weeks.
A little difficult course if the tee shot is not stable
Very poor course conditions. Slow play. No bevy cart or ranger. Dilapidated clubhouse.
Brown is the new green here! Fairways are a mix or sparse green grass and vast hardpan dirt with dead grass.
It is a true pity, since the course layout is fun and it really used to be a great time. But the neglect is so bad I would not even consider playing it again.
I did give it one star though because my discounted green fee came with a Hot Dog and a Beer.
Nice round. They were very diorganized when it came to getting everyone carts.
I will start with the good things. Layout-very challenging and requires smart shot placement. Service-very friendly staff and very helpful for guests giving great pointers for first time players of the course. Location-beautiful views throughout with a lot of wildlife to see while golfing. Greens-greens were in good condition. Sandtraps-placement was good and challenging but they were hard dirt away from the greens and flooded with water close to the greens. Fairways-the worst I have ever seen. Mostly dirt and dead weeds and grass. I have seen better fairways on abandon courses. All in all a 2 star and worth a play if you can play for 20 bucks or less. I will try again in the spring after some rain for the possibility of green fairways.
Golf course looks like it could be good if it were maintained better. The fairways were mostly hard packed dirt; rough had more grass and felt better to hit from.
Had a great time today with my pals. Played 36 holes and nice lunch. Don't come so there's more room for me!!! LOL. Nice Green's and great staff.
The course is still pretty torn up from the rain but the greens were really good. Pace of play started good but the Marshall didn't seem to push people along very well. It was just under a 5 hour round
Very fun course to play but the sand boxed need less pebbles and more sand.
A nice course tucked away on the bottom of the mountain and surrounded by homes. Condition of the course can be a little better and they should be able to do the job with the amount of crew I saw on a Tuesday morning. The one star review is for quality of service and lack of care and common sense. Here's my experience:
I tee off at 6:30 solo because family is sleeping in at Harrah's Rincon. The front 9 was smooth but a horrible experience with back 9... sprinklers are on full blast starting at hole 13 thru hole 17. I call the pro shop and informed them about the situation and the staff tells me a crew is a little preoccupied and will be there soon to turn off the water. Ok, I'm good with that. I tee off at 14 and I'm waiting for the sprinklers to be turned off so I can hit my 2nd shot. I wait, wait, wait but water is still on. I call the pro shop again and ask about the sprinklers and the response I got was unbelievable. To paraphrase the guy... he basically said it is what it is... just skip a few holes and we can credit you for back 9. WTH!!! Right about now I'm wet, my cart is wet, my bag is wet... i'm livid and stuck! I pick up my ball while getting wet and drive to the next hole cause I'm trying to finish and get back to hotel but I can't drive thru the course because the damn sprinklers are on everywhere. The picture I posted doesn't do justice. I think that was hole 15 and I was literally stuck because of the sprinklers. I wait, wait, wait for the water to turn off but of course the sprinklers kept going. I manage to zig zag my wait through and finish my round while avoiding getting more wet. To add, common courtesy for the course crew is to quiet down when someone is around the green and especially a player is putting. But, common sense is not so common here. I forget the hole number but I am putting for a birdie and this guy on law mower get closer and closer to the hole while I'm lining up for the putt. You gotta be kidding me!!! I could have taken the opportunity to voice my frustration but I figured it was pointless and told myself I would write a review when I'm back home so here it is.
One positive I take from the experience was the drive to the course.
The best course I've been to yet. Staff is great. Course is well maintained. Wait a few days after the rain to avoid wet socks and and a question why you went after the rain. Over all a 5.
Made tee-times through GolfNow. Wasn't able to make the tee-time due to car trouble. Called course and cancelled tee-time. 3 weeks later received an email from GolfNow saying course told them to charge me for tee-times due to my no-showing. I contacted golf course via email and was told I needed to speak to the manager to resolve the issue. I've sent 3 emails and called 3 times and the manager is never available and hasn't returned my calls. Not the customer service I expected based on past reviews. Still hoping to hear from the manager to resolve the issue.
Not my favorite course but if you get a chance to play it in the spring after some good rains wow its beautiful!! Usually in the summer and fall the place is in patchy shape but wow played it today and it was fantastic! Tip: if you want a great deal call about the weekday twilight rates should run you like $20 after 2pm.
Reasonable price.. Fairway management is poor... Green is good.. Overall cost performance is good
Nastiest food ever coworker threw it up after we were done
Nice greens but fairways are terrible. Water is not an option at this course. Dead grass lined all 18 holes and was not a great experience. Will be back once watering issue is resolved.
Played there yesterday (5/31). Terrible condition. Save your money.
We always have a great time here. Course is fun and challenging. All the staff are really friendly.
This place is obviously dealing with budget restrictions and may be on its way to possibly closing. The best thing about my round was the fact that it was only $19 walking on a Sunday morning and we finished in 4 hours. It's sad because the course is actually very fun to play and has a challenging design but just below average conditions.
The greens are actually in pretty decent condition but the rest of the course is in need of some serious help. Tee boxes are overgrown and have many bare spots. The fairways are patchy and most lies will be in between patches or on hard dirt.
For $19 you can't really ask or complain too much but I really wish they'd try to bring this course back to its glory days because it's got potential. I recommend this course for anyone who wants to save money and get some practice on course instead on the range.
Great experience, the new manager Jonathan who has only been there a couple of weeks is very friendly and an asset to the course. Greens are great and I understand about the water restrictions, but over all the course is not in that bad of condition compared to courses like San Dimas Canyon or Los Verdes. Will play again.
Great value course gets better every time we play it. Think the new management has helped
Drove up from San Diego. Beautiful layout. Well worth the trek. We will be back.
Always liked this place, it has had it's rough times but always been a good course especially for the price
Greens in decent shape. Rest of course needs help. Still a fun course.
The price is great. Took off a star because some of the grass on fairways is sparse. The greens were in good shape. Some traps had water from irrigation. We just dropped behind. Overall a decent course with a number of fun, challenging holes.
Course in rough shape, however it was cheap to play. Nice folks running shop.
Greens and fairway in pretty rough shape, too bad, nice layout.
Enjoying the day at Eagle Crest, sunny & 68. Greens look good, some fairways need work, but overall an enjoyable experience.
I've played this course twice and it always fails to impress. Lots of bare spots and dry patches. Uninspiring holes, for the most part. Anyone who tells you that it's well maintained and in good shape hasn't played there for years.
Nice course, some rough spots in fairways but nice greens. Can't beat the online price!
Beautiful course, par 4&5 they play long.A lot of water to hit over, need a do over will be returning on my bday!
The Course is getting better and better. Greens are in good shape. We play there once a week. The staff is very friendly.
Horrible condition except for the greens. The new manager is a real arrogant jerk. Unfriendly and not customer service oriented. Looks like he is putting profits ahead of keeping the course in good condition. Many brown spots. Just compare to Vineyard. BIG DIFFERENCE
Received a free round here as a Christmas gift. The drive from South San Diego was well worth it! Always tough to shoot a good score playing a course for the first time, but was only a couple shots over my average. It was in excellent condition, especially for it being "winter" and having gotten a lot of rain in the previous few days. The greens were very receptive and the fairways were fair. Definitely a place where course management is premium. Only gripe would be that the tee boxes aren't in super great shape; often very uneven and poorly mown. Definitely will return here!
This was a fun course. The service was outstanding; the management worked with me to reserve some rental clubs, and the gentleman that confirmed my appointment at the clubhouse was very friendly and sincere. It's a fun course to play, and it's a great value. The maintenance was lacking in some locations, but that could probably be at least partially contributed to the drought-like conditions in the area. I had no desire to shell at $200+ at a high end course, but this offered a great round at a fair price.
Great course, though not very grassy, but good for the price
Course is in pretty good shape with the wet winter. Good use of terrain and a lot of well placed sand traps add some difficulty
Really smooth greens and well kept. Good course
Just didn't like their website, as it was basically taking a chance with the course ahead of time. I really wanted more visual pictures of the experience I would go through beforehand
but overall, a good course and recommend it
This is a great place for golf at a reasonable price. The fairways are a little tight so watch out for the houses on the left and the houses on the right. We play here quite often because of the reasonable price and the difficulty of the golf course in general. However, they are having problems with their pumps. If they can get more water and make this place a little bit more lush it would be an amazing course fit for even the pros!
Great day of golf, greens in good shape grass on fairways coming back.... great value
Not a great golfing experience. Course is in so-so condition. Greens are generally okay, but fairways need improvement.
Good location. Play early, it can get hot. Decent course, decent prices.
Fairway is not fair. No grass and so many wet mud areas.
Putting green is fast but so many marks...
we live on the course and it's awful awful awful there is zero maintenence, grass is dead and the ponds are gross and dried out. knew someone who worked there, supposedly the manager is a dick. we're actually hoping it goes out of business so someone else will pick it up and restore it to how it was when we moved here. it was gorgeous then, now not so much.
Very nice I love it here! Beautiful & friendly atmosphere... I would love to live on this course and play it everyday!
This used to be a nice course but it is now very neglected. Fairways are in horrible shape with huge bare areas and lots of gopher damage.
What was a terrific course had really gone downhill the past few years...but they're making a comeback. Still some bare spots, and tee boxes that need work, but overall it's in much better shape. And a bargain right now. Played August 20 2017, and it was entirely playable and mostly enjoyable. Three out of five now, if they continue to bring it back it might be five star by winter.
One of my favorites in the area. Good challenges for all levels. Well maintained.
Good layout Decent conditions very reasonable green fees and very nice people they don t treat you like a number like the vinyard
The course layout is pretty cool thr fairways conditions needs a lot of help but for 20.00 bucks with a cart i would play it again
Friendly _ Polite Staff __ Golf Course is in Terrible Shape !! __ No grass at all on most fairways __ You can tell they don't water & have been severely neglected __ Tee boxes are very rough __ many have No Level lies to Tee Your Ball __ Greens were nice !! __ The one place they seem to care __ Had Fun , But I wouldn't go back __ Do Yourself a Big Favor , Play somewhere else
This course is in great shape. It's a little challenging at times but bring your A game and enjoy.
It is very quiet and beautiful, apart from being located very close to the city, it has very good maintenance.
Greens are ok, everything else is supremely sub par.
Greens we're in good shape. Nothing spectacular about this place.
Target golf from tees. Staff friendly. #17 green needs work. All others soft and puttable Enjoy day and lunch. Bathrooms needs deep cleaning. Garbage cans need to be replace.
Course is in pretty decent shape. Fairways and greens could use a little work. Good for the price
Pace of play was a little slow (5 hrs+) possibly due to the length of rough; miss the fairway (or roll through it) and the entire group will need to help you locate your ball (even if you saw where it entered). Tee boxes were great, greens were nice, fairways awesome. Friendly staff, just need to get someone on that mower...
Had a good time. Seems well kept and friendly service.
