Allders, Croydon

Disgusted. Purchased a coat. Was told they only accept cash. So ran to find nearest cash point. Got home and realised the coat was not a great fit. Went all the way back to the store on the same day and the shutters just went down. No number on receipt to call.found main outlet number on Google and explained to the man on the phone whosaid he saw me buy it and to call back the following day. Called back and no answer. Went back to the store (third time) and was told they only do exchange and that its MY responsibility to check at the point of purchase. If an item is exchange only, it should state this on the receipt, which it does NOT! Neither was I told during any point of my purchase that they only accept exchange. She said I should know/ find out. The manager, 'Georgia' refuses to refund me even though it is in perfect condition and I followed everything I was told by the man on the phone. Then Georgia said even if I had an exchange I would have still had to come in. Bottom line is I was NOT told this is exchange only and my receipt does not say exchange only either. I was forced to leave with the coat I do not want. She also made up an excuse saying even if she wanted to refundme the machine wouldnt do it- which ia laughable as she is the manager and of course she can give me back the cash. Terrible customer service too in general. AVOID!

It s far too expensive & a complete mess . Some of the stock is nice I tried to buy a cushion the cashier Said Pay over there ? But where ? I told you over there she said pointing into the distance ? She was filing her nails

Absolute dump - stinks and full of rubbish . Tear the place down

It's a dump! The whole building needs to come down. It used to be Allders.

Full of cheap goods, lots of small retail outlets renting space to fill a large store, with a few retailers selling copy and fake big name branded clothing like boss, Gucci, Armani, etc,etc

I cannot see how this can still be classed as a department store. All it is, is an empty shell of what used to be Alders. The little shops in there are terrible, I wouldn't buy a single thing from there! The part where they sell laundry and kitchen stuff absolutely stinks of damp and most of the stuff in there looks like it was previously stored away since the 80's. Personally I think shops like this are disgusting.

Taking over from the old Allders store it still has many useful items in house

It saddens me to see this one highly recommended 3rd or 4th biggest store in UK to be run down. It was all damped had a horrible look about it.

Soooo sad its gone. Pleeeze bring it back. Pleeeeze

The Shop is empty... But its still open for business. Whoever runs this shop must be on drugs or something.

Love to shop here. Always find something special or a bargain. Friendly and helpful staff. Not the most inviting shop from the outside but inside you are surprised by the array of goods.

Varied stores and restaurants. Parking available. Public transport nearby
