Lovely spot to enjoy a couple of appetizers and a fine glass of wine. Its cozy and charming atmosphere is enjoyable, and the food is rich, flavorful and obviously made by someone who is passionate about creating delicious dishes. Ed is an affable and attentive host and server, without hovering. I only wish they were open more often and for longer hours, or had more tables, as its often difficult to get a table as often as one might like. I would recommend this as one of the best spots in town for a romantic leisurely dinner.

Gluten free done right. Not important to me, but for one of the people with me it was key.

It's a small operation and you will feel it from the beginning. Your assigned time isn't just a suggestion, it's the whole reason what we were told was a 2 person team is able to manage a decently sized bistro. I was impressed and see why bistro 1882 has such good reviews.

Absolutely fantastic food. French cuisine in a casual atmosphere. The food is as good as anything anywhere. If you're from south Calgary, don't waste your time trying to get downtown, just come to Okotoks instead. It's easier to get here and 1882 is better than what you get in the city. Service, prices, wine menu.....everything is great.

Last thing: when you order the cheesecake for dessert, they serve it in a bowl instead of a plate. Don't worry about why. When you taste it you'll get it. :)

With my family we had the pleasure to dine at this fabulous restaurant many, many times in the past. Every single time we were there the food and the service was truly exceptional. Fresh and tasty. And we know a thing or two about food because we have been in the restaurant business for a long time and in fact we had a restaurant nearby. If there is anything we miss about Okotoks is going to this amazing restaurant. As good as it gets.

Our new favourite French style bistro in Okotoks. We popped by for a late dinner and boy were we impressed. We were served by the owner who is very passionate about his restaurant. I had the Reuben which was perfect and the Cotes de Rhonda wine was the perfect temperature. We will be back!!

We had an amazing time here with family. The menu had many great items and they all tasted lovely! The maple balsamic, beef Bourgogne, and white cheesecake filled us right up! But best of all, Ed and his wife are amazing hosts, and made our visit very special! You have to go here! Call ahead to make reservations.

The best restaurant meal I've had since moving to Canada, absolutely worth the high prices! Delicious food, choice wines, charming and cozy decor along with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also a family business involved in the local community, definitely recommended

My husband and I have been here twice and both experiences were very different. The first experience was a 5/5... the food was amazing! We had a halibut that was on special and it was phenomenal! The second experience was a 2-3/5 at best. I had the salmon and it was dense, chewy and overcooked, tasted like it had been frozen. My husband had the duck and he was thrown off by the texture of the outer layer. The appetizers we ordered both times were consistent and really good. The price is a bit high, especially for the quality of the food on our second visit. We paid $120 for 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and tip and we left pretty disappointed. Not sure if we will be going back.

What a find! This place is delicious and worth the money.

As always this is just my opinion based on my experience.

We started with the Avocado and Prawns very tasty, and a great way to start a meal. I moved on to the Duck Margret with Saskatoon Berries, while my wife had the Sterling Obie Braised Beef Bourguignon. The Duck was amazing... I could ramble on about how everything is fresh and local and cooked to perfection, but I think everyone should experience the food here. Also the place itself is cozy and made for a perfect evening. The service was excellent, and very knowledgeable.

Great place with good value and amazing food.

I had dinner with my boyfriend the other night and the food was FABULOUS. We started with the scallops, which were served with fennel in a mustard dressing and raspberries. I then had the pork belly for my main course. The skin was crisp and the pork so tender. Also all the plating is absolutely beautiful, you get a piece of art for dinner, that's how lovely it is. My boyfriend had the salmon, cooked to perfection with delicious crisp skin! For dessert we had the strawberry chilli brownie- paired with a glass of red wine it was delectable. I highly reccomend Bistro!

Very disappointing, the fish was over cooked and for an Halibut it tasted like Tilapia. Too
much sauce which is not very elegant in a plate. That should have been a $20.00 dish NOT a $42.00 When you charge a price like that you have to give the quality. A white fish with vegetables and rice is not a fancy dinner and cheap for the restaurant to make. A risotto and a beets salad with a white fish baked in wine and herbs would be my suggestion. Dear chef! put your heart into your cuisine and do the best for your customers. Make SURE they have a great experience and wanted to come back.

Nice and cozy. Although they have the space, they don't take on more customers than they can efficiently serve, which is quite uncommon and I respect that. Service was fast, friendly and pleasant, and the food tasted great. The restroom was nice and clean as well.

I recently moved from Vancouver Island and was looking for a restaurant with something out of the ordinary. Well, Bistro 1882 was a Delightful surprise. The food was some of the best I have ever had. If you are ever looking for great food then this is the spot. Run by a wonderful couple. Ed was our server and unfortunately I don t know his wife s name but she does all the cooking and did an awesome job. Pleasant couple and made the experience that much better. Just a tiny place but what a gem.
