It is great and the food is probably the best japanese food you could ever get here the bento boxes are the best so make sure to try that and the place gives a really good vibe and chill and the customer service was best the Waiter was great and he was really nice

These guys used to be so amazing over the past few years, but since January 2020, we have had mediocre, if not terrible, experiences each time we try to come to Atami. One time, back in February, we waited for our meal for almost an hour and then finally the server basically told us the order had been lost and was never been made, we left that time with no meal. Since that terrible long wait experience, we have had mediocre to-go orders over the last few months. My recent visit was the most disappointing. When I was picking up a to-go order, I asked the cashier to help me with a small surprise of a birthday dinner treat for my husband who was waiting in the car, I even offered to pay whatever I needed for this surprise desert. I had this idea because there were two huge groups having the hibachi experience that same evening and I was thinking how fun that would have been for us to have been able to dine in to the hibachi had we not been taking more precautions for our family during this time of COVID19. She was incredibly lost, had no idea how to think outside of the box and help me with a dessert option for a to-go order, and she refused to ask for help from her team or manager. I was severely disappointed in the lack of customer service, I actually left in tears because she was so unable to understand what this desert surprise was going to mean to my husband. I ask her, do you have ice cream or other dessert options and she continued to repeat that there were none to go , even though she also said oh, well yeah, we have ice cream! Maybe I m blowing this out of proportion, but I m very sure this was the final straw for our family and we will not be returning to this restaurant. I would advise that any other customers find a different Asian restaurant in the area, there are plenty of other great ones, Atami has gone too downhill.

The only reason this gets a star is because the placements of the restaurant is extremely nice and the overall place itself is very nice.
The service, however, is terrible. Every 2 minutes someone was in our faces about refilling drinks or asking repeatedly to take plates. A man stood by our table the entire time we ate and kept taking trying to take plates the second we d put a fork down. Another weird occurrence was a girl walked over to us and murmured water . I couldn t enjoy my food or the restaurant itself at all. It was unbearable and irritating to not be able to talk to the person you re sitting with due to someone constantly adding water when not necessary, or trying to take a dish they thought I was done with.

I came here once with a large group of friends for lunch and the entire experience was amazing! Not only was the food good, our chef was really talkative and engaged with us, putting on a cool show and just making sure we had a good time, which worked! Overall, I enjoyed the experience and wouldn't mind coming again or recommending the restaurant to friends.

Wouldn't sit the entire party of 6 together at the Habachi Grill. Wanted to split us up so they could fill their 12 seats. We would have waited to sit together. Manager was down right rude counting out the seats in front of entire restaurant when we asked...he said 1,2,3,4.....then pointed on the other side 5, 6...It was the craziest thing. I've never had that experience at a Japanese Steakhouse and we've been to several.

Terrible service. Came in and asked for a roll combination with a simple substitution of a small salmon roll instead of a California roll ($1 difference according to their menu pricing) and was given an attitude from the rude hostess and the chef who (pointedly ignoring me) told the hostess they would not make it for less than a $3 surcharge. When asked why the hostess refused to explain further so we just left. Didn t catch his name but it was a white guy with curly brown hair. The restaurant was empty at lunchtime. With this kind of service I can see why.

I tried to call in an order and no answer. I called 5 times and still no answer. I figured they are busy so i head there to order and they aren't. He told me that he never heard the phone and it must be on silent. After he takes my order i call just to make sure it wasn't my phone that's messed up, and behold! The phone started ringing. Ofcourse he didn't hear it ofcourse. So i had to wait longer for my food. I even heard the phone ring while i waited and no worker was around to answer or choose not to.

Food is great. Chefs are fun. The Chefs all have different personalities and shows, I appreciate the playfulness and authenticity and that they aren't just boringly following a script or doing the same thing as the guy cooking at the table next to you. On the Hibachi side you may wait a min or two to get a seat.. then wait a while for the table to fill up and then wait a while to order and then you finally see your Chef....but once they get there and they start cooking its non-stop entertainment and amazing food until it's all over and then it was alllll well worth it! We frequent this place at least once or twice a month. My husband would give 4 stars-only because they don't Corona, but I don't drink beer, so 5 stars from me! Family fave for sure

Terrible service! During the pandemic, they would have up to 8 people all in the same area waiting on orders and wouldn't even answer the phone to place orders and not have to wait. Then make you wait 30 minutes for your order to be ready. There being so many other sushi restaurants in College Station I would definitely recommend ordering from other restaurants and the food is better anywhere else guaranteed!

One of our favorite places to eat sushi. Some of our favorites are the Southwest, Texan, Rainbow, and Tiger. To be quite honest I ve never had any sushi here I didn t like. If you have time, the hibachi grill is quite entertaining and you can t beat the freshness!

Not good, a reservation was made for a cooking table. One of our party was running late. They would not seat us until the other party got there or we new exactly what the other party wanted to eat. We asked to look at a menu, the menu had tiny print and on paper that was hard to read in a dimmly lit room. It was the first time there and they wanted us to act like we have been there everyday for a month. We left without eating there. Most likely won't go back.

Sushi is pretty good, the hibachi food is good (you get A LOT of food), but the real appeal is of course the show. Out of the two I ve been to (Katy and here) this one seems much more lively and a little less formal. Highly recommended for those picky eaters since the menu is HUGE.

Pretty good restaurant, however the hibachi section is great. I suggest getting a lunch reservation. If you have a small child bring sunglasses because it helps them not be scared of the cool tricks.

P.S. My absolute favorite chef here is Tyler. I never really liked the restaurant until I had him, it s been three years I ve been going there frequently ever since the first time he entertained us.

(Disclaimer: all of the chefs at Atami are talented and skilled professionals and will provide a unique experience.)

Atami was sub par at best. The restaurant was a little gross (sticky tables, odd smell, dark). The staff was very underwhelming, although there were two waitresses who were really out going but others were not and far from friendly. Waited about 10-15 minutes until someone even came to our table for drink orders. The sushi was pretty boring. (Got the special bear roll) The fried rice was great but you do NOT get your money s worth. For one it s already over priced for fried rice and then they give you a tiny bowl. Drinks were good, they don t skim on the alcohol. Also got crab wontons as an appetizer... was basically 5 chips because the meat filling was non-existent. Overall won t be back, but also didn t leave terribly upset.

This is a great Japanese cuisine specialized in sushi and other sea foods. There are varieties of sushi and sashami or something like that. I loved my stir fried noodle with beef, chicken and shrimp. The staffs were so nice and the climate was nice. However the price is too high.

I usually don t have any problems coming here but sadly the past 3 times i ve had issues. Past couple times I ordered a appetizer and they never brought it. It was even charged out on my receipt and i had to mention it was never even brought out. The last time i went there was a hair in my fried rice and the manager just gave me another plate of fried rice. I was still charged full price even after what happened. Sadly i don t know how i feel about going there now.
