Very dark and full of old New Orleans atmosphere. The house drink menu has many variations of absinthe. It's also directly across the street from a bar with a balcony where men and women are throwing beads down to passers-by and it's very entertaining to sit at the bar and watch what's going on in ...

I'd visited on Mardi Gras 2020 and it was most certainly a one of a kind experience! Loved the rustic ambience of the bar which is conveniently located on the Bourbon Street. The menu is very detailed and descriptive, which aided me in deciding on the drink that I wanted to go for. I'd ordered the B...

First time absinthe drinker. Enjoyable atmosphere. Surprised to not find any publicity connecting the establishment to the old ABC TV show "Bourbon Street Beat" given that the office of the detective agency on the show is stated to be above the OAH.

Showed a YouTube video on the TV series to ou...

This place is a staple on Bourbon Street. Lot of fun to feel like you've stepped back in time with some Absinthe. A little pricey, but the ambiance and serving of the Absinthe is unique and fun! Only reason for less than perfect rating is the men's room can look pretty bad

During my weekend in NOLA I think I came here every night. Their lists of Absinthe is amazing and the staff was very friendly. Does get busy at times but they were very attentive the entire time. A must see when walking Bourbon Street

The Old Absinthe House has long been famed for their absinthe frappe, created in 1860 by Cayetano Ferrer. But after one look at my friend s giant plastic cup filled with Bloody Mary, brimming with dilly beans, pickled okra and olives, I forwent history and went for brunch. After all, the clock (with...

Good place to unwind. I skip a lot of places on Bourbon Street, however I do always make a stop here. The drinks are good. Bartenders are friendly. (An extra thank you for having bartenders that make sure female patrons aren t being hassled)

First of all absinthe taste like watered-down Sambuca... I love Sambuca which tastes like black licorice but the absinthe wasn't even drinkable, my taste of course... I asked the bartender for a cup half full of soda water thinking I would dilute it a little and try to get my $20 worth... it wasn't ...

I liked all the notes on the walls, and watching the absinthe being prepared was cool. But dear lord, the service here is atrocious. Having to wait a while I can completely understand, but these bartenders deliberately avoid eye contact and once you have their attention they seem so incredibly annoy...

Super friendly bartenders, with an incredible knowledge of the spirit which gives this location it's name. We tried absinthe for the first time, as it was served with flair and style. The drink was poured over a sugar cube, set ablaze then extinguished with water. The cocktail was the stirred an...

Old Absinthe House is old, dark and a bit grungy but what place on Bourbon street isn't. It's all part of the character of New Orleans. They have your a variety absinthe and the bar-tenders aren't too bad. If you want a drink that isn't just beer or a syrup sugar mixed, mildly alcoholic beverage, th...

Watch your tab. They charged me for someone else's drinks. Ditzy blonde bartender was more interested in counting out her tips than serving the customers. She kept people standing around til she decided to take orders. Better places in french quarter to drink.
