I recently refinanced my house with Ocean First Bank and they selected MaxVantage to conduct my appraisal. The appraisal was performed by Gary Turner. Mr. Turner showed up at my house 30 minutes late. I had to call him to find out he would be late. He walked thru my house in a few minutes and said he was done. I told him a house four house from mine sold just a few months ago and if he could use that home as one of the comps. My appraisal cost me 635.00 and came is very low. Several realtors I know could not believe it. I had my house listed for a short time for sale for 349,000 and decided not to sell, but to rent. I appealed it, but was told that their would be no change. I received my appraisal copy and found numerous mistakes in the report. Example, house was listed as built 1900, but actually built 1950's. Wrong total amount of rooms etc.... The appraiser did not use the house up the street from me, but used houses west of the canal, not east. I contacted the owner of MaxVantage and it took him a week to get back to me. I would highly recommend that NO ONE use this company for any appraisal! Poor company and poor business!
