About Ekstep
Improve literacy and numeracy by increasing access to learning opportunities for 200 million children of India
Ekstep is a non-profit organization that aims to improve literacy and numeracy by increasing access to learning opportunities for 200 million children in India. The organization was founded in 2015 by Nandan Nilekani, Rohini Nilekani, and Shankar Maruwada with the goal of transforming education in India through technology.
The Ekstep platform is designed to provide personalized learning experiences for students of all ages and backgrounds. The platform offers a wide range of educational resources, including videos, games, quizzes, and interactive simulations. These resources are designed to be engaging and interactive, making it easier for students to learn at their own pace.
One of the key features of the Ekstep platform is its focus on data-driven insights. The platform collects data on student performance and uses this information to personalize learning experiences based on each student's strengths and weaknesses. This approach helps ensure that every student has access to high-quality educational resources that are tailored specifically to their needs.
In addition to providing educational resources directly through its platform, Ekstep also works with a wide range of partners across India's education ecosystem. These partners include schools, NGOs, government agencies, and private sector organizations. By working together with these partners, Ekstep is able to reach more students than it would be able to do alone.
One example of an initiative that Ekstep has launched in partnership with other organizations is the "Million Sparks Foundation". This initiative aims to train one million teachers across India using digital tools by 2020. By providing teachers with access to high-quality training materials through digital platforms like Ekstep's Learning Platform (ELP), Million Sparks Foundation hopes not only improve teacher quality but also increase student engagement levels.
Another key area where Ekstep has made significant progress is in developing innovative solutions for low-cost devices such as smartphones or tablets which can be used even without internet connectivity or low bandwidths which are common issues faced by many rural areas across India where internet connectivity may not always be available or reliable.
Overall,Ekstep’s mission is ambitious but achievable: improving literacy rates among Indian children will require significant investment from both public and private sectors alike; however given its track record so far we can expect great things from this innovative organization as they continue working towards their goal!
