Operating as the school bus service for the San Francisco Unified School District this company "Zum" sacrifices child welfare for the sake of profit and "efficiency". Teachers and staff are seeing different bus numbers and drivers everyday. Kids need consistency and in many cases they require the same driver - everyday. Zum sends different drivers and buses at the whim of an algorithm, which means their big contract with the district is bad for kids. Zum is creating confusion among staff and anxiety for students. This company and SFUSD ought to be castigated for disregarding the needs of kids and ignorance about real after school logistics... typical tech sector carpetbaggers.

Horrible company, horrible staff, horrible app, horrible customer service. The child transportation idea is a great concept and 95% of the kids are courteous and respectful, but don t expect more than $18 for a 3 mile ride that takes 29 minutes sitting in traffic. They don t reimburse for gas so what you take home each week with taxes taken out is basically pocket change. If you actually get through to them on chat (they don t answer the phone or text) you can negotiate for a higher price ($20-$25) but they give you attitude about it and they usually (90% of the time) give your ride to someone else. So then you re stuck with no rides all day. You will NEVER make $32 an hour or anywhere close to that. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THAT GIMMICK IT S NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a parent, I thought I could rely on a company that supposedly provide services for children to follow the law when it comes to transportation. My son is 7 years old and extremely small for his age (in the 5th percentile on the growth chart) and has been using them to ride to and from school for 2 months now. On 2 separate occasions now, the driver has shown up without a booster seat.
I complained after the first incidence and was assured that it would not happen again, but the first time that my son had been assigned a different driver, they showed up yet again without a booster seat.
How can you ask parents/guardians to trust your services when you are putting children's lives at risk?

I never got booked with a driver. I requested reoccurring rides for my child TWO weeks before the needed date. I received an email saying a driver would be matched at 4 pm the day prior to the requested ride. On the day prior I did not get a notification at 4 PM. I reached out at 7 pm because no driver had been assigned, although I was assigned a code word. Why are they assigning code words for the child if no driver is assigned? After a few hours I receive a text saying they are trying to find a driver. I asked if a driver was guaranteed or if I should make alternate arrangements. I am still waiting for a response. This is poorly run and if a driver cannot be found please let us know. A simple "you need to make other plans" would have been helpful. Don't leave me hanging not knowing if my child will have a ride home from school. I cancelled all my requested rides with this poorly run company and tried Hop Skip Drive. They have been wonderful; extremely responsive!

Zum offers me the comfort of knowing that my children are getting a safe trip to their favorite activities while I am at work. My kids never have to wait because the drivers arrive early for pick-ups, and the Zum staff is very supportive. So happy to have found them!

I give a negative -1 star if the rating allows it. This is because Zum school bus does not take any responsibilities or ownership in making changes to school bus schedule so that kids are pickup and arrived on time for school. Even after we have made multiple calls to voice our concerns to Zum. The scripted answer has always been, "We will look into it" but we never heard back from Zum. Meanwhile, we continued to observe that the Zum school bus has always been running behind scheduled pickup time ranging from 10 - 15 minutes. As a result, kids on the school bus are late for school daily. Zum knows the bus arrives late for school daily, but doesn't care to do anything about it.

We ve been using Zum s child transportation services for more than 3 months now and we never had any problems. They had multiple drivers, but all were nice and polite. I like their professionalism and they never made my child wait at school or at home.

Taking Zum transportation services is one of the best choices I have ever made for my child. Their staff take proper care of my child and safely bring him home at the end of the day. The drivers are always on time such that my child never gets late to his school. I am glad to find their services and recommend them to every parent.
