Quite a busy visit for our first ever trip here. Not always clear what could be seen where, and lots of visitors ignoring the signs saying they should stick to the left. But it's a beautiful place, many interesting pieces on display, and nice to have a day out with the family. We'll be back, but with it being such a hike to get there, and not being brilliant for wheelchairs, maybe not as often as we might be.

Fantastic wide open space, hundreds of sculptures, lovely walks, dogs are allowed on leads, bit some parts in the woods by the lake they do ask you not to take dogs, so not to upset the wildlife etc.

plenty of places to sit and have a picnic, either on provided benches or just sat on the grass under a tree..

you can pay by cash, card or even by cash notes..

Terrific experience: wonderful sculpture arranged in beautiful landscapes. Decent paths but it is up and down hills.
Cafe, gift shop, facilities etc. also venue for occasions.

We had a wonderful day out with three teenagers, and grabbed three "lucky dip" bags in the gift shop for a couple pounds each.

Some of the installations are challenging, and the grounds are extensive, so be prepared for a bit of hiking if you wish to see it all. Youngsters and those for whom art is a chore might not find this place to their liking, but I was impressed.

I visited the YSP a few weeks ago. What a load of pretentious rubbish! Moore and Hepworth must be laughing in their graves. The best thing about the Amar Kanwar exhibition was that it was INSIDE and somewhere to shelter from the rain OUTSIDE. Dennis Oppenheim, conceptual artist? Talentless fraud more like it. Thank goodness admission was free - it would have been money wasted otherwise.

I visit regularly and find it a good place to walk, have a picnic and relax. You can take dogs but they need to be on a lead in certain places. I usually enjoy the sculpture and this is in several galleries, a church and the grounds. The longside gallery is worth a visit and there is a free bus or you can walk. There are several cafes and a couple of kiosks, some of which serve ice-cream and takeaway drinks. The new gallery has an exhibition space, a table service cafe and space for parking as well as a free bus. There is no playground but there is plenty for children to look at and explore.

Loved it! A must-see for all northern-based art lovers. Loads to see although probably not great for young children. It is mostly outdoor so consider walking boots as some of the paths can get pretty muddy.

Finding your way around can be quite confusing. I'm not sure if there is a map that we missed...

Entry to the park itself is free and the buildings feel quite pleasant and modern.

Part of the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle (the Hepworth in Wakefield & Henry Moore institute in Leeds being the other two points) the YSP is great sculpture in a beautiful setting. There are more permanent installations dotted throughout the park land and the galleries near the visitor centre contain exhibitions that are regularly changed. One of my favorite places to visit on a weekend. Yes parking is a bit pricey but YSP gets little to no funding from government so if that's the cost of keeping this brilliant park open then I'm happy to pay it.

I rate Yorkshire sculpture park 4 out of 5 stars as it is a very interesting place with lots to see, fun activities to engage in and inspires me as a photographer. There is rare sculptures to see so defiantly worth the visit and the large area it is spread across makes the park even more interesting. The only reason I am not giving the park a 5 out of 5 is due to the fact that there wasn t much information on each sculpture despite the fact i retrieved good images from the park. The park has inspired me as a photographer because it has shown me how easy and how creative I can make my images by researching other artists.

It's a nice place to have a walk. There are, as the name suggests, several sculptures made by some world renowned people.
The car parking charges are outrageous. I would recommend parking outside the grounds and walking into the park.

Great place for a good day out, no matter what the weather.

Plenty of exhibits to see and lots of room, in the fresh air, to explore.

Good food and a nice shop. Exhibits change so always something new to see.

Been twice within 2 weeks now as I didn't finish everything the first time round!

Loved the experience if not all of the art. Some pieces were spectacular while others were plain weird or just plain. I have a logical mind rather than artistic so couldn't quite get to grips with the reasoning and influences behind some of the pieces.

Even if you aren't interested in the sculptures you can have a cracking good walk in and amongst the sheep and other wildlife, or just a sit and watch the world go by

Even though the car park was full to overflowing on my first visit, once I was in the park I felt like there was hardly anyone else there (until you get to the cafe and visitor centre)

Could do with a better or more detailed map showing the permanent exhibits. I understand it wouldn't be cost effective to keep producing new maps of all the temporary ones.

My favourites were Beyond Time by Chiharu Shiotu in the Chapel next to Iron Tree which is also pretty special, and Seizure by Roger Hiorns. Only 5 people are allowed in at a time and you have to put shoe covers on before you go in but don't be put off by having to wait to view it, it is well worth waiting for.

Get talking to the staff about the works - you will find out far more interesting bits of information than just wandering around yourself. Or make up stories about what you think was going on in the artist's mind when they thought of each piece - you'll come up with some pretty inventive ideas

Dogs are allowed in most of the park on a lead but there are some places where cattle roam that dogs are not allowed. Signpost of the gates tell you this and give an alternate route.

I would recommend starting from the visitor centre and head straight in to the field opposite where you can see the totem poles. View the Chapel and other sculptures before heading to the bottom of the field and head right towards Bretton Hall rather than across the end of the lake.

First time I ended up crossing the lake at the left hand end and doing the woodland walk. I then continued right round the lower lake area probably the wrong way round (Clockwise) as some of the sculptures were behind me and I walked past and almost missed them.

Also by doing the park this way round I probably 3/4 of the park but only 1/3 of the sculptures as I ran out of time before I had to meet family in Wakefield. I didn't do the full 6.5km walk right round to the outskirts of the park on either occassion. Far more sculptures to see if you head straight through the visitor centre and that way. There is a section where you wonder where to head as you come to more car parking. Just keep going across and past the cafe to get to back on track

Only other thing I will note in this review is that sometimes the little signs telling you about the pieces are a little way away from the sculptures so you've got to hunt them out.

Enjoyed both half days. It is a FULL day out if you want to do it is one day. Definitely worth a visit

This a lovely place to visit. It's a vast space with many beautiful and interesting works by renowned artists such as Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth in glorious countryside.
There are also several indoor exhibtions, a restaurant and cafe etc...
You can spend a whole day here and it's probably not enough.
Take a look. You will not be disappointed I'm sure.

Great great great.

Great great great.
We had only 4 hours on the afternoon and that is definitly not enough - you could spend there days.

The park is a wide area in a beautiful landscape with meadows and sheeps, gardens and a lake. Everywhere in the field you can find sculptures from various artists and you also find a lot information to the artists and there work.

An amazing place to visit and walk around. Despite many of the sculptures being in a field it is very accessible. I felt it was a little confusing as to what was available as a first time visitor.

Wonderful views, great walks with good footpaths. Great parking with parking costs going to the upkeep of the YSP, fabulous and surprising sculptures. Loved amazing trees and the Camelia house , good cafes and clean toilets. Loved our visit can't wait to revisit however think we would take a picnic next time. Make sure you have decent footwear and maybe a weather Jacket

Went on Easter Sunday with in-laws and our 2 boys aged 5 & 7. Tonne of space for kids to run around, nature and interesting sculptures. Activities for kids out on the grass including trying to build the tallest tower with cotton bobbins. They LOVED this.

Great few hours out with the kids. Plenty of space for them to run around and burn off energy. Loved hearing their interpretations of the sculptures. Enjoyed the toys and play exhibition. Restaurant food was great.

I really enjoyed my visit last week in beautiful sunshine. The Henry Moore exhibit is outstanding. I particularly liked his drawings in Gallery 3.

Unfortunately my disabled companion did not enjoy the experience because of the motability scooter. She felt very unstable and owing to her problem with her upper spine she felt she was not in full control as the steering reacted very quickly to the lightest touch and every bump in the terrain, but to gain access to the exterior sculpture in the various settings cross country travel is required.
We discussed this issue and came to the conclusion that a "golf buggy" suitable for couples would be a good mode of transport and we concluded that we would have been happy to hire one to facilitate our visit. Perhaps YSP might consider this for the future.

I'm not in to modern art, but this was fascinating. With well laid out scultpures across a huge amount of space. A day could be spent here and you still wouldn't cover anything.

During covid this is an excellent escape

Always lots of new installations. Great cafe and plenty of parking. Entry is free but parking is charged - still worth the money though. You can take a picnic and spend the day there or just pop in for a couple of hours.

One of my favourite places on the planet. Great art and great walks in a beautiful setting. Favourite works are the Deer Shelter and the Hepworths. Food is very good, although a little pricey, parking ditto, but more than offset by no entrance fee.
