Whilst this is undoubtedly a beautiful place with wonderful sculptures, we had a very mixed experience.

The worst food I ever eaten in a restaurant or cafe. My fish and chips was inedible. Inside the batter was not lovely flakes of fish but uncooked lumps of batter. Chips were greasy. Mushy peas had a bitter aftertaste. I wish I had taken it back at the time. It was quite simply appalling.

One exhibition was closed when the leaflet and website said it would be open. Another closed too as royalty was visiting. Some warning of this would have been appreciated - we would have walked round a different way. Staff were rude and unapologetic explaining this closure.

Park for free on roads nearby, walk in and take your own picnic lunch. That's my advice and it's what we'll do next time.

Lovely place to spend an afternoon, wandering through the grounds and admiring (or puzzling over) the sculptures dotted throughout. Great value too because you only have to pay for parking; there's no actual entry fee. Far worse ways to spend a Saturday afternoon.

One of my favourite places on Earth. Such a gem in Yorkshire's crown. Exhibits and exhibitions are varied and well looked after, the grounds and views are outstanding and the staff and volunteers I've spoken to are all warm, friendly and knowledgeable. You could spend all day here and still have more to see and explore. The only money you have to spend is in the car park, and that is reasonable in itself - especially if you come with a few other people in the same car. Great for all ages. The food and drink is great too, with plenty of great vegetarian choices and a few vegan friendly things too.

The open parkland allows you to see the sculptures from a distance and from all angles, which is great. However, my favourite part was the woodland walk over the dam wall where you can discover the sculptures amongst the trees. My dad is disabled and is in an electric scooter (not an off-road one) and most of the paths were fine for him. He had to walk over the first part of the dam wall while I lifted the scooter, but that was fine. The cafe was great with good cakes.

Great plsce for a good, post Xmas walk - with a difference! Signage could be a tad cleaer, re which car parking for cafe &/or main indoor exhibition area....please. (Especially as it is an excellent meeting place & confusion could therefore be avoided, without a long trog between with no obvious signage in the grounds)

An amazing day (you'll need a day to take in all the art) exploring forests and fields full of art. Second visit, to see Damien Hirst's installations. Previously saw the Kaws' exhibit. Love this place. Totally recommend. And the cafe and restaurant are worth a visit too.

Firstly, let me be honest. I don't really "get" a lot of art. I don't understand how a long stick can be "art." Or how 2 girders welded together is "art."
None the less this place has that and lots of pieces that I do understand, all spread out across some magnificent grounds that is going to take at least a day to get round and there is interactive things for the kids to do too.
Best of all is IT'S FREE.

Great day out, especially in the sunshine.

This is a huge, beautiful park and a great place to visit. I'm sure you could spend 2 or 3 days there and still not see it all. Unfortunately some of the buildings were closed due to Coronavirus, but the facilities looked great.

Lovely place for a walk around. Some cool installations to enjoy. It's a shame that Covid has meant the sculptures that kids could previously climb on / in are now fenced off and that there is a crazy necessity to book a time of arrival, even though this is an outdoor site!

Well worth visiting, lovely parklands with a lake, bring your binoculars for birdwatching! Ideal for a walk to blow away the cobwebs, with some amazing sculptures to look at along the way.
Cafe and restaurant to refuel after.

I really enjoyed my day at YSP. The weather was really good which makes all the difference. There is so much to see and do. I loved the Henry Moore sculptures I was surprised how many sheep are just grazing around the sculptures.

Dreadful sculptures for the most part (who the hell commissioned this stuff is up their own *ss), overpriced cafeteria style restaurant, like a secondary school from the 1970s, a reasonable cafe the other end of the park (great sausage and bacon butties, good sandwiches, dreadful coffee). Bluebell Woods and wildlife make up for the rest

Fantastic outdoor space, some really spectacular pieces of sculpture on display. It was busy but once away from the main building then there was plenty of space to keep distance from everyone. We've been a few times and always see something different. Facilities are are clean and the staff are helpful & efficient.

Absolutely amazing and one of my favourite places to go. Highlights this year were definitely Tony Cragg's sculptures and the Art by Email exhibition. Always fantastically curated and relating to current events. As someone who loves the countryside, the landscape is fantastic, and there's so much history about the grounds. Definitely take advantage of the next twilight walk, the volunteer guides are friendly and knowledgeable and you won't regret the experience.

An amazing place to visit and walk around. Despite many of the sculptures being in a field it is very accessible. I felt it was a little confusing as to what was available as a first time visitor.

PREPARE TO WALK: one of the great features of this place is the fact it is spread over such a large area - it is a wonderful experience to wander around and come across the different sculptures- if you want to keep it to a shorter walk you can as well, but there is a mass of grounds to explore

A great day out - really worth a visit

Good for a walk and a cultural experience. You pay by car which is cool but make sure you make the effort to nominate a driver and share as it can get expensive if everyone is turning up separately. The food in the cafe was really nice and pretty reasonable for what it was and worth checking out if you're looking for a half decent meal. There's a lot to see in the park. Can get muddy so bring wellies or walking boots.

Decided to take the dog for a walk and someone suggested this place.
Ok but parking charges are a bit expensive.

Didn't know really what to expect and didn't gen up on it before going.
We opted for 2 hours which is not long enough to see everything and the bits we did see were restricted if you had a dog.
Not allowed past the chapel gates so we had to take it in turns to look after rhe dog whilst one of us went in to see it. This soaks up time.
Also some of the walks are not dog friendly due to cattle grazing so they are not allowed in certain areas which are the ones you want to use. Alternate paths available which have poorer views.
Overall ok but better of without the pup if you want to get the most out of your visit.
Theres lots and lots to see and we will definitely go back. Dogless.
You are also better off paying for the full day if you choose to use their car parks as trying to fit everything in in 2 hours is impossible.
There are lay byes just outside the park gates so you can use them. But if you are like us, pay to support the park and our heritage.

It's free to visit, you just need to pay for parking which is a little on the expensive side for parking. They have plenty of sculptures scattered across their land. They also have sheep roaming which is nice.

Sculpture in a park setting makes the sculptures new with every visit. This is a great place just to go for a walk if you are not interested in sculpture. The parking might seem pricey but it's well worth it. Good restaurant and refreshment facilities ( a little pricey). Great for families. Fantastic collection of sculpture with some amazing temporary exhibitions.
