Solemn, beautiful, ageless and a classical holy fixture of British culture, the York Minster was an exceptional place of hallowed halls to visit. It's sacred architecture is not only beautiful to the eyes but uplifting to the heart. It has a transcendent majesty to it that is perfectly awe inspiring.

Great venue but does not fully comply with the quality of care act. Was charged consession with free carer upon entry, but then paid full price for the tower climb. It was not mentioned that it would be full price, I was just charged.

What can you say about such a magnificent human creation? It beggars belief, that this thing was built, as and when it was. No visit here could ever, ever, be wasted - just come, see, gasp, and give grateful thanks. You won't regret it.

Looks really nice and grandiose on the outside, and the size hits you. However, the price is expensive and it looks like any other on the inside. Not worth going in so much as looking from outside. The staff aren t extremely courteous and for some unknown reason ushered us out 45 minutes before the schedule Evensong.

While I did not go inside the Minster I think it was closed for the day. Just looking at the outside was incredible, so much detail. It must have taken some unbelievably skilled people a very, very long time to build the Minster

It is just too big to review. It has all the things it should with alters, stained glass windows , wood work, gargoyles, crypts, etc. The 1 hour tour is included with the admission and do that first. The crypt has a tour and free part. The free area was plenty for me. The tower climb was fantastic with 15 min of stair climbing to get to the top. I took the hidden tour with the exploration of the mason's loft and the attic of the Chapter house. It was impressive to see how all the rafters were put together.

Lots of history at this cathedral worth to pay the extra pounds to go to the top of the minster. It's quite expensive to go if you're not using the York Pass and if you're planning to go to other museums. When I went some parts were in process of renovation but I'm sure once it opens it will be worth even more. In a nutshell you will see beautiful architecture, interesting glance of history, important figures buried like archbishops.

The Minster is the must-see site in York - and indeed, it is so huge, you can't avoid seeing it ad you walk about town. The exterior is massively impressive, and the interior does not disappoint. Climb the tower for a cardiovascular workout and magnificent views; explore the undercroft to learn more about the history of the building, and the preservation work that saved it from collapse in the last century; take a guided tour to hear fascinating details about the architectural details; or just sit and be still in one of the most monumental places of worship in Europe. And if you have a York card, it's free!

York's cathedral church is one of the finest medieval buildings in the UK. Gothic cathedral with vast stained glass windows, interactive Undercroft exhibition and tower tours. Highly recommended...

We love the Architecture the History and places like this in General. I understand that buildings like this require a vast upkeep but I object to being expected to pay to visit. Visit an equivalent place in France / Spain you're not pressured at all.... Just my 10 pence worth.

2) charge "foreign visitors", once again a token charge. Explain they don't pay taxes for upkeep were as "locals" do.

There are enough visitors without getting greedy re charges.
Thank you.

Very beautiful church very impressive, we will be back! A pastor there blessed us, we like that so much!
At the top of the tower you can enjoy beautiful views leider there is no elevator, but many steps, about 280 steps.

Just walking around the outside of the Minster is amazing.

Some restoration working taking place at the moment but it's nice to see how the workers are meticulously restoring parts of the outer stone to its former glory.

Stained glass is magnificent to see and the gardens next door a a must for a picnic or just a walk through.

3 stars due to the cost of entry being so high. Once you're in it is a unique experience. There are few places like this left in the UK. A must-see when visiting York. If you love medieval cathedrals then you have to visit.

It's a massive building, the architecture is amazing. Go for a guided tour well worth it it takes an hour , the guides are very knowledgeable. The passes last for a year you will need to go back, lots to see and learn. The Blue Peter bosses are worth seeing (take binoculars!)
