Great Spot in the summer for a coffee and to sit by the River
Hired a boat for two hours for a family trip. Just reached York when the steering cable snapped and we were in severe difficulty trying to get safely to the bank without sinking or banging in to the bank or any other craft. The emergency number we were given turned out to be unmanned and went unanswered. We only made it back thanks to our Airbnb host who very kindly came over and managed to get us back by sitting next to the outboard motor and steering it directly by moving it. Although they apologised they later implied it was our fault for over steering and wouldn't offer a refund. We're preparing a report for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Hopefully they'll shut the place down or revoke their licence asap. In the meantime, steer clear of this place if you value your life.
No management of site. Over-crowded. Tents placed so close the guy ropes were crossing. Official guidelines recommend that tents are sited at least 6 metres apart to prevent the spread of fire. A tent will burn in seconds. No control on the noise levels from fellow campers and caravaners. Shouting both nights until 2.30/3.00 am across the site. An absolute disgrace. The owner had scant regard for the safety and proper running of the site. On-site wardens were useless, denying they were the wardens when I spoke to them about the noise and over-crowding.
Had a lovely weekend with 6 of our friends also went for a boat trip down the river one of the best weekend ever
Great site if you're into your boating bit loud with party people on the weekends
A lot of folks are reviewing this as if it's the campsite or the mobile cafe, but it's actually a marina with a bit of space for dry docks and paid moorings along the river Ouse, some where people live permanently and some weekenders and holiday makers. I used to have a boat here myself and it is a very relaxing place to come and visit on a sunny weekend. They have electricity running to the moorings by the site with a meter, and their are toilets and water available to refill your water tank. There are more moorings along the riverbank that are off grid and highly sought after, and in fact some people will by a boat just to get the mooring that comes with it. It is a bit moor down to earth in its pricing and not so elitist like the marina at Naburn across the river.
Well used as a stop off place for a cuppa and bacon/sausage sarnie. Great place to watch the world go by
Had a fab time, the wardens lucey an george was amasin, toilet block was clean an tidey if we had any problems we just had to say , lucey evern helped us put our awing up bless her , if get a chance will defo go back there keep up the good work guys realy enjoyed our stay
Charming and Quiet place weekdays, vibrant and good humoured at weekends, tired site though needs a revamp . P.S. owners both down with illness currently wish Lucy and George good health
Great location very near York. Bit of a mess and a bit noisy. Otherwise very good
All staff here are friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back when I get the chance
Excellent way to spend an afternoon. Staff very friendly. Toilet & shower facilities available if camping and all clean & tidy. Very good refreshment van.
Have been an active boater on the River Ouse for a number of years. Peter and the team at York Marine Services are brilliant. They genuinely care and helped us remove our boat for the winter using their slipway. Thanks so much and see you next season.
Not as what was advertised, too many caravans and tents grouped up together. The view of the marine was heavily obstructed by abandoned construction. The site was ment to be quiet after 9pm however that's when the noise began from, guests slamming car doors, dogs barking from each end of the camp site, to music, and the awful sound of a generator powering all through the night.
Had a terrific couple of days here in the caravan. Excellent facilities. Location right on the river bank. Made use of the cafe which do full english breakfasts. Relaxing location watching river traffic. Only a mile from the York Outlet Village. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. We will certainly be returning in the very near future.
Could do with an upgrade , but owner and staff very pleasant and freindly
Situated alongside the river Ouse, a very helpful Marine service.
Really friendly little campsite. Great value too. Excellent showers and only 4 mins walk from the brilliant Ebor Inn pub.
Stayed here for 3 nights as we were going to a family funeral , lucy and george the wardens were awesome she even came round to make sure i was dressed smart enough bless her , clean showerblock this is not a fancy site but they do make you feel at home .
Absolutely brilliant place to camp - friendly staff - great, clean facilities. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a lovely location within easy distance of the centre of York. Will certainly be back - Thank You :)
Octagonal restaurant opening soon. Good atmosphere.
Lovely walk this afternoon. The icecream and hotdogs great treat at the end :)
Nice and quiet site friendly staff. Nice walk into York and easy for park and ride
This was our 2nd visit and things/standards have certainly slipped. Firstly the positives, Great location with a lovely village a short walk away. Good pubs and eateries. A local Co-op which is a bonus.
However, I will not be returning. The toilets are smelly, humid and damp due to no ventilation and general cleanliness.
The pitches are not well maintained. Very cramped and muddy, it just seemed that people where placed on every inch of available grass. Our pitch was in the children's play area. With the football and play bikes knocking our canopy down at one point. I don't mind children playing, just not at the expense of my camping equipment being damaged. The pitch was also overlooking a very ugly waste area where there is concrete slabs for foundations to a large building, so our view whilst chilling with a cuppa or glass of wine, was overgrown weeds and wire mesh seperating the construction.
I do feel this could be so much more and very disappointed, it has so much potential from its location. Sorry for the negative review hope it's taken as constructed criticism.
So relaxing. Seeing all different boats. Wonderful ice cream.
Riverside location caravan site drink and snacks available to buy
High cost campsite. A building site within 10 foot of the tent started banging, smashing and clanging at 7am on the weekend. No forewarning of this or apology. The dayboat hire we previously used from this site no longer seems to be offered.
Me and slates have come here often now luvly little spot its a proper bobby dazzler
Stayed last weekend. The caravaners had a party until after 1am with music and singing on the Saturday. Friday and Sunday night was ok
Perfect for everyone with a family or not everyone is friendly.a real nice vibe I had an amazing time
Stayed here on a house boat. We only had one night but the people were super friendly, a cabin for drinks etc and lovely clean toilets and showers. What more can you ask for.
Great cafe. Wonderful views. Brilliant service, for boats.
Great place to while away an aternoon by the river.
